Newbies die fast on Astral :(
If it's broken, break it some more.

I generally leave them on our Night bubble and go ahead and clean up the Astral sphere it leads to before leading the newbie there. Easy enough to do the same for you.

Looks great! Cosmic, which is required, is a plan away from astral. Not a big deal to just transverse one more time.

    On the other topic...

I'll gank Mags/Serens/Hallias I see loitering in Faethorn and etherglom. Novices are protected by grace so it's really never an issue for them, but their escorts need to have enough of a brain to alert a leader of the org they are escorting a novice through. I've gotten a few (more than a few) angry, whiney tells about jumping escorts. Honestly, I don't bother to honors everyone I see, I will generally recognize a name as a Mag and surprise hug them. If I'm told, or someone over CT alerts everyone to it, it's never an issue. I'll tell them to make it quick and it's over and done with.

Though I will say the whole line of reasoning from Silvanus is fairly amusing, because 95% of the time, you physically can not jump novices. Grace of innocence, yo.

@Estarra: Any thoughts about the Cosmic planes I pointed out? I noticed you made a post the minute after I made it, and I know from my own experience that it's far too easy to miss posts in those circumstances...

@Ssaliss I didn't quite get your point on the cosmic planes. They have the same point value for cities as the elementals and the goal is to get the newbies familiar with those planes connected to their cities. I don't think anything really needs to be adjusted for that.

Astral's fine. I just tell them that they'll get hurt by the corruption so have to drop the cocoon fast. If you do it last they'll have the hang of it.
  • SsalissSsaliss Member Posts: 3,573 Transcendent
The point wasn't the points (pardon the pun). It was more the fact that we get points for Fire, but not for Vortex; similarly, we get points for Celestia, but not for Water. It just seems odd to me. Not a major issue, of course, but I think it'd be nice if the Elemental and Cosmic planes were paired for the planar quests.

What are you talking about? Gaudi gets points for Fire and Vortex!

Oh, oh mean communes. Okay, I'll adjust that.

Gaudi does, yes. But communes don't. Glomdoring gets for Fire and Earth. It would be nice if the Cosmic planes we got points for were Vortex and Nil, but according to your proposal, we'd get points for Celestia and Nil.

EDIT: Hrm. Have you changed the google doc? Because now it looks like we get points for Celestia and Vortex, not Celestia and Nil... which still gives the same point I guess in that we get points for Earth but not Nil, and we get points for Celestia but not Water.

I said I'd adjust it! (Look at the spreadsheet again.)

Bah, same thing again :( I make a reply while you're writing a post, and completely miss your post... Silly new forums; the old forums warned me when there were responses while I wrote a post.

I like the way the spreadsheet looks now.

With regards to taking novices to Astral, maybe it is just me, but I have never had trouble taking a novice to astral as long as I go up first and make sure all the unlinked trash is cleared so that they do not get one-shotted - the ambient damage from being on the plane is infrequent enough that they can drop their item and get it without taking maybe more than 2 tics of damage before they leave as long as they are not messing around.

95% of the time, Mag novices are jumpable, as you undoubtedly know, because lichseeds are important to have and help you lose less. And to get them you have to renounce grace of innocence, yo.

So lets try and attack the escorts next time, instead of the random ninja novice who hasn't been back since.

I don't really think you should be encouraging novices to drop Innocence for Lichseed. The loss is pretty minimal at that level and very easily regained.

Orgs should never really be encouraging novices to drop Innocence.

When novices ask for lichseeds as a way of avoiding to pray, I don't see how you can tell them "oh I can help you, but you'd have to renounce this." Especially when a much easier way of avoiding the problem exists, like honorsing someone before you jump them on a plane outside of Prime.

Plus, people like getting immolated/rezzed/not having to pray, and lichseed is Mag's only answer for it. Perhaps providing free immolation for people with grace of innocence, or things like that, then lichseeds will be outdated, but until then, a lichseed is pretty comforting for most people/novices.

As pointed out by others here, most of the danger in going to other planes with novices is fighting off Astral beasts, and am I really going to sit there and watch a novice die, and tell them to pray because I'm not going to waste 100 nexus power on them when I could've just saved 5 nexus power by liching them?

Or maybe we can just try not to jump people when we see novices with them. Just saying.

I like the idea of Immolation costing 0 power to those under GoI.

The divine voice of Avechna, the Avenger reverberates powerfully, "Congratulations, Morkarion, you are the Bringer of Death indeed."

You see Estarra the Eternal shout, "Morkarion is no more! Mourn the mortal! But welcome True Ascendant Karlach, of the Realm of Death!

Oh, and one more thing I noticed: Glom gets points for Earth and Fire, and when it comes to cosmics, Celestia and Nil. Seren gets for Water and Air, and then Celestia and Nil. Perhaps shift the Cosmic planes to match the Elemental planes they get points for?
I'd prefer if it were anti-matched, actually. Seren gets Water, Air, Nil and Vortex. Glom gets Earth, Fire, Celestia and Continuum. Or swap the two, whatever. That way each commune can get 5 points from each cosmic/elemental pair.

When people stop using novices as excuses to get them into places they shouldn't, the entire party will no longer be targeted. Not that this happens all the time, but it's happened enough in the past to make people rightfully suspicious.
Everiine is a man, and is very manly. This MAN before you is so manly you might as well just gender bend right now, cause he's the manliest man that you ever did see. His manly shape has spurned many women and girlyer men to boughs of fainting. He stands before you in a manly manerific typical man-like outfit which is covered in his manly motto: "I am a man!"

I remember a little Glom-novice wandering around Ethereal Glomdoring digging up every single eyeball...

On the topic of "why we can't have nice things". :(

And novices going around disenchanting all of EtherSeren's sigils before a big raid. And novices appearing on cosmic planes for their "planar task" and suddenly becoming a tesseract target for a raid squad.
