NUNCHAKU - NUNCHA

Syntax:    KA NUNCHA <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
Kata:      Arm Action
Bodypart:  Head, Chest, Gut, Rarm, Larm, Rleg, Lleg
Can Target Denizens
Stance:    Base

The basic attack with a nunchaku weapon will do blunt damage. You will
do more damage than other arm actions with this move. Note that while a
nunchaku is wielded, the trained monk can still perform punches and
other moves.

NUNCHAKU - NUNKI

Syntax:    KATA PERFORM <target> <form> NUNKI
Syntax:    KATA PERFORM <target> =<form>
Kata:      Modifier
Power:     3 (Eternal Flame)

When using your nunchaku to attack opponents, your weapon will shear
away the defences of your enemies that serve to keep your weapons out.

As an alternative, you can also add this to any form by
prepending "=" to the name of the form. For example, if you
have a form SMITE that you wish to use against Roark then
you would do KATA PERFORM ROARK SMITE. If you do KATA
PERFORM ROARK =SMITE then it will automatically use this
modifier with the SMITE form.

NUNCHAKU - XIIANGU

Stance: Base

Changing stances now deals hemorrhaging. Hemorrhaging is an affliction
that prevents you from clotting bleed below that level, or bruising
below half that level. It cures over time.

Certain afflictions will give you bonus hemorrhaging if your target has
them when you start your form. Boosting will also double your
hemorrhaging.

Afflictions: Vomiting, Disloyalty, DamagedOrgans, Sickening

You can build up to 850 hemorrhaging on a target.

NUNCHAKU - XIANCHUK

Syntax:    KA XIANCHUK <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
Kata:      Arm Action
Bodypart:  Head, Chest, Gut
Stance:    Base

This move causes mild afflictions.

Head:  Disloyalty
Chest: Pacifism
Gut:   Vomiting

NUNCHAKU - XIIANGZI

Twist Low Stance

Bonus Effect: Temporary Insanity

NUNCHAKU - NANGAO

Syntax:    KA NANGAO <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
Kata:      Arm Action
Bodypart:  Head
Stance:    Twist

This move causes mild afflictions.

Head:  Temporary Insanity

The amount of temporary insanity will increase depending on how many
mental afflictions the target has.

NUNCHAKU - GUOLAO

Syntax:    KATA PERFORM <target> <form> GUOLAO
Power:     2p (Eternal Flame)

This advanced version of the urchin stance will regress you down a
stance.

NUNCHAKU - MARJGONA

Syntax:    KA MARJGONA <target> <bodypart>
Kata:      Grapple
Bodypart:  Head
Stance:    Twist

You can use your nunchaku to force your opponent to partake in the sweet
sensation of smoking some good ol' weed. It'll also make smoking further
difficult!

Head: Asthma

NUNCHAKU - GUOJICHNU

Twist High Stance

Bonus Effect: Burns

Syntax: KATA PERFORM <target> <form> BURST <aff> [<aff>+} [HIDDEN]
Power:  2 (Eternal Flame)

Bursting allows you to convert hemorrhaging to mental afflictions.

You can afflict one mental affliction for every 150 hemorrhaging
burst.

You can afflict one hidden mental affliction for every 250 hemorrhaging
burst.

You cannot afflict temporary insanity by bursting.

NUNCHAKU - HUOYANTI

Syntax:    KA HUOYANTI <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
Kata:      Leg Action
Bodypart:  Head, Chest, Gut, Rarm, Larm, Rleg, Lleg
Stance:    Surge

This style of kick is too hot to handle.

Effect: Burns.

*The amount of burns will increase with the number of mental afflictions
on your target.

NUNCHAKU - ZHANCHUK

Syntax:    KA ZHANCHUK <target> <bodypart>
Kata:      Grapple
Bodypart:  Head, Chest, Gut, Larm, Rarm, Lleg, Rleg
Stance:    Center

You can use your nunchaku to force your opponent to sloooowww down and
enjoy the scenery.

Effect: -5/-5 balance malus while grappled.

NUNCHAKU - CAIHNU

Center Stance

Everiine said: The reason population is low isn't because there are too many orgs. Stance:    Surge

    Chest: CollapsedLung
    Gut:   Dysentery
    Limbs: Rigormortis

    NUNCHAKU - NEIHUO

    Syntax:    KA <NEIHUO|INNERFIRE>
    Kata:      Unique

You are able to summon the inner fire within yourself and by doing so,
cure yourself of any afflictions that may chill you. You can only use
    this periodically.

Effect: Cure Frozen, Cure Shivering or apply fire potion defense.

    NUNCHAKU - ZHONGULI

    Surge Low Stance

This technique improves upon the basic Kata throw attack. When throwing
someone while locking a limb, you will break the limb or you will mangle
the limb if the limb was already broken. For locks on non-limb
bodyparts, it will not cause any
additional afflictions and will act like a normal kata throw.

Limbs: If Damaged, will Mutilate, otherwise it will Damage

    NUNCHAKU - DONCHAKU

    Syntax:    KA DONCHAKU <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
    Kata:      Arm Action

    Stance:    Surge

    Head:  DamagedSkull
    Chest: Healthleech

    heck of a headache!

    Effect: Concussion

    NUNCHAKU - DONJBUI

    Killer Stance

Effect: 50% of your damage will be fire damage for 5s.

    NUNCHAKU - LONGHUXI

    Syntax:  KA LONGHUXI
    Power:   5 (Eternal Flame)

You can use both your inner fire and your booze to breathe a cloud of
fire onto your enemies, causing blackout, confusion and forgetfulness

    Effect: Blackout, Amnesia and Confusion

    NUNCHAKU - ZUIJIUDASHI

Your passive swaying allows you to sometimes avoid entanglements and
transfixes. This ability is more effective the drunker you are.

    NUNCHAKU - YONGHENGQISHI

    Syntax:    KA YONGHENGQISHI <target> <bodypart> RIGHT|LEFT
    Kata:      Full Action
    Power:     3 (Eternal Flame)
Bodypart:  Head, Chest, Gut, Rarm, Larm, Rleg, Lleg
    Stance:    Killer

Yonghengqishi is showing your foes eternal enlightenment. By using this
skill, you will cause damage to your enemy depending on how many mental
    afflictions they have.

  • Would like to see Longhuxi have an effect on allies. Room blackout is power free for brewmeisters, and amnesia is barely an affliction. The skill isn't worth 5p, but being able to heal or cure allies would make it somewhat useful.

Zuijiudashi I am not sure why it promotes being drunk. Being drunk is a huge burden, especially on curing, and doubly so on things like ServerSideCuring which may delay recovery. Not sure how effective it is while sober though.

The skillset lacks mental afflictions itself, so the trans is harder to use but...... in groups........ yeah.

On demand transfix may need to increase power cost, but will wait and see. It is a 4 second casting, but it also ignores sixth sense.

The fire potion skill seems random to me, but I guess curing aides aren't bad.

Wish the skillset had more mental affs on its own. Right now the design requires basically maxing out hemo, then bursting, then using the trans to try for damage skill.  There is no active mental affs that can be done, the skillset has no stuns or formable blackouts, and it is actually fairly condensed. It is very minimalist, which is totally ok, but I would love a bit more pep in the Nunchaku step!

  • I think that's rather the point, Tessenchi is very similar but if you're going to give either of the monks a reliable source of their own afflictions outside of burst, things are going to be very unenjoyable for whoever the monk is on in teamfights. Plus, with all the mental spam of illuminati, particularly a hexen, I'm sure you'll find a way to make use of the first killer stance available.

  • Yea the classes do seem very much more built as a support synergy role than anything else.

If someone else can dish out the mentals/steam affs for you can you just hammer out of form "insta" for high damage.

    Or other way around

You can focus on kido and arm actions to build insanity/timewarp so your allies can kill.
  • Which makes them seem like an inferior class presently. Their solo kill is based upon getting afflictions after attrition. If you somehow cure them all, or cure many of them quickly, or use the new damage reduction skills, etc etc.... they won't kill at all. There is no backup option, and they lack any real way to support their method from what I can tell. I will play with them more though, as the "insta" skills are abilities that should still allow poisons.
  • Don't knock it 'til you try it!

If this was an attempt to give chaos beast a job, instead of everyone going ur'life, I applaud it. Being able to drop several mental afflictions in the same balance as Yonghengqishi may impact the balance of this ability.

The divine voice of Avechna, the Avenger reverberates powerfully, "Congratulations, Morkarion, you are the Bringer of Death indeed."

You see Estarra the Eternal shout, "Morkarion is no more! Mourn the mortal! But welcome True Ascendant Karlach, of the Realm of Death!

Overhall aff progression I think, I can't recall exactly.
    image
  • Chaos beast had already been getting plenty of use, but it is true that it might be a factor here too.
  • I really need someone to help me understand the kata flow...is it anything like the stances from aetolian monks or imperian's assassins?
  • Basically there is five level of stances with twist and surge levels having two options high and low.

    So

    base
    twisthigh/twistlow
    center
    surgehigh/surgelow
    killer

Doing a normal kata form moves you forwards in the stances.
You can urchin to go back or powermove to go back quicker.
You can boost to go forwards quicker.
Your moves are restricted to the kata form your in with the more powerful abilities in the higher surge/killer forms.
  • There are also benefits that are active while you're in a stance and some have benefits that activate when you hit another stance within a certain time frame.

For example, "base" gives you defense, if you enter "center" within 8 seconds you get a better defense bonus that lasts for 10 seconds (likely til you loop around to base again).

The same thing happens with "Twist" and "Surge" with "Twist High" giving a damage buff and "Twist Low" giving balance buff.

For pvp effects of that, I'm not 100% sure. But the stances I have mention effects on entering and effects separately. So I think the former happens on the hit that moves you into that stance and the latter on the hit that you perform starting in that stance but someone else should confirm.
  • So its a lot like the predator class of Imperian where action moves the forms forward but you plan it out beforehand using AB NUNCHAKU FORMS?
  • I think they kinda tackle the stance concept from opposite angles.

Knifeplay you move through based on the attacks you use and there is a limit where each attack has a stance you can't use them in. Which also means you can move around the stances as you like without necessarily going around in a circle.

Kata you move through the circle regardless of what attacks/actions you use in the form (you can use options to choose between low and high or urchin to move backward) and as you get to certain parts of the cycle they unlock actions (the stance note in the abs being the minimum stance required)
  • So 5 point combo where stances unlock new attacks to add to the combo
  • Retherian said:
So 5 point combo where stances unlock new attacks to add to the combo
Yeah. So for Nunchaku... (didn't list the basic kata attacks)

    Base: Nuncha, Xianchuk
    Twist: Nangao, Marjgona
    Center: Zhanchuk
Surge: Huoyanti, Cankanchu, Ganzhou, Donchaku, Tannaku, Zhoncu
    Killer: Yonghengqishi

You can use any ability linked to the stance you're in as well as any ability in the earlier stances. Yonghengqishi can only be used while in Killer, while Nuncha and Xianchuk can both be used in any stance.
  • Right. The idea is the stances themselves form a power gradient. As you move up the gradient towards killer you open yourself up to stronger attacks.  Once you get to killer, however, you fall back off. In order to spend the most time at your strongest (and, ideally, act with the highest efficiency available to you), you need to expend power to regress and stay in the surge+ region (surge -> killer -Reress-> surge), or cycle back to base and boost/kata your way up to surge.

The stance system is better than the momentum system we used to have, in which monks would race for momentum 5, and stay there until they used and attack/combination of attacks which would drop them lower, then work their way back up. Needless to say, there was potential to just stay in the highest momentum and continually beat out stronger attacks much to the dismay of everyone.

  • Urchin also comes with the cost (minor perhaps?) of the bonuses you get from transitioning between stances. (Like the 5/10 from going from twist high to surge)
  • It is really similar to imperial predator for sure. If you've played predator you should probally get your head around monk here fairly well.
  • Thank you it was helpful indeed
