    Syntax:       FLING LUST AT <target|GROUND>
    Applications: 1

    ab tarot Enigma
    TAROT - ENIGMA

    Syntax:       FLING ENIGMA AT GROUND
    Power:        5 (any)
    Applications: 5

The Enigma is a rather unique card. When you fling it at the ground, a
representation of Tzaraziko the Enigmatic will be called up and place
her mark upon you. While wearing the mark, the next tarot card you fling
at an opponent will be followed by another, random card which will
immediately be flung at that person. This will happen for the next 3
    flings.

NOTE: Enigma cards are not masked by the Fool.

    ab tarot Soulless
    TAROT - SOULLESS

                  SNIFF SOULLESS
                  FLING SOULLESS AT <target>
    Applications: 10

To attune to the Soulless Gods is a very dangerous thing to do indeed. You must first rub the card on your enemy seven times. Sniffing the card will tell you how many times you have rubbed it on your foul oppressor, while flinging it will begin the process of calling upon the vibrations of the Soulless Gods to destroy the soul of your enemy. Be warned, however, that this process takes concentration and you may not do anything else while Soulless energies become manifest.

    ab tarot World
    TAROT - WORLD

    Syntax:       FLING WORLD AT GROUND
    Power:        5 (any)
    Applications: 10

This extremely powerful card invokes the potent energies of Kiakoda,
Guardian of the Green. So long as the caster remains touching the earth,
all flings of tarot cards will shatter shields of magical protection and
go through them. This effect will last only for the first five flings
    that shatter a shield.
  • Entanglement stacking appears to gone - QueensLament and Hangedman resulted in Entanglement 1 when used together.

  • Previously, moon gave 3 affs for 2 power. Unless the delusion tree is crazy strong maybe the power cost should be dropped or have it give 2.

To tack onto what Llan said, Moon before gave one random affliction out of dizziness, confusion, stupidity, hypersomnia and amnesia, and was able to be used with Enigma tarot up (as in, enigma may throw a moon).

Report 1012 changed it to be the 2 power, give stupidity, dizziness and confusion all at once, and unable to be used with Enigma.

My suggestion is to either remove the power cost, or make an option to throw Moon tarot for 2 power, or moon tarot for one, and have the Moon tarot for 2 power give 2/4 or 3/5 delusions.

Otherwise, Tarot has always been one of the most balanced skillsets since Occultists back in the day. If Aeon gets re-worked in a different manner then how it does now, then tarot may need to be looked at from an offensive standpoint.
2014/04/19 01:38:01 - Leolamins drained 2000000 power to raise Silvanus as a Vernal Ascendant.
2014/07/23 05:01:29 - Silvanus drained 2000000 power to raise Munsia as a Vernal Ascendant.

Have you guys played with the curing yet?

Purgatives are 3s cures, herbs are 5s.  So even doing 1 aff hit at a time will outpace things it looks. Aeon spamming alone would result in perma aeon (if you eat reishi at lvl 5, you dont cure aeon, and aeon is faster than the rate of fling).

I would love to talk with a focus group on this, I cannot tell based on testing, but did we make groups better or worse? Will affs all just be a rush to do them fastest? I mean every chain gets pretty serious. EDIT: Also of note is that every aff is classed among one of phys, mental, or spiritual. So will we have focus curing and if so how is it changed, etc.
  • I think slowing the rate of curing too much is not in our best interests. As far as I can see, the number of afflictions in the database are reduced, but their effects remain the same. Two levels of aura affliction gives 2 effects exactly the same as currently, and I'm not familiar with current bard affliction rate, but it looks like the speed of affliction is the same. Granted, of all the aff trees revealed so far, only the aura and delusions trees are really debilitating between level 1 and 4, since they both have command denial as level 3, as well as an actual effect on level 2. For the nerves, muscular, skin, auditory and ocular aff trees, only level 1 (2 for audi and ocu) and level 4 are actual affliction effects as we know them now. The rest are just one time damage or small effects on movement or things like that.

For aura especially, the jinx at level 3 is going to compound curing difficulty and slow curing even more. Which certainly makes it extremely potent when added with the aeon at level 4.

Also, at the moment, delusions IS crazy strong. Periodic stun isn't as potent as aeon (especially when it's the max level that a tarotist can get to, and is thus always the first cured when eating pennyroyal), but like Aura, it has command denial at level 3, which probably stacks with aura level 3. At two delusions level per throw (and assuming we don't change current herb timers), ouch.

  • Note that Jinx is actually Void, not the hexes affliction.
  • Hrm? It's working differently from the current Jinx/Stupidity effect? If so, could you describe what it does? I haven't had the opportunity to try it for myself yet.

It works like the current void affliction and blocks commands.

But seems to proc quite a lot more often. Under aeon it's seemed to be quite distressing, but that's just what it seemed from one round of testing.

Void is amnesia on crack. At one point it was 66% command rejection, I think it was nerfed down to 50% some time back?
  • I'd like to point out that giving someone to level 5 should be difficult--if it's too easy, it needs to be tweaked. Some of you are making it sound more of the rule rather than the exception. If you are at a level 5 affliction, you should be in big trouble! Keep in mind that most skillsets would only have 1 or 2 (or 0) paths to a level 5 affliction so experienced fighters should realize what they need to cure and protect against.

  • I think we'll need to see the start of systems before we can really determine just what would be likely to get up to 5. My understanding is that if we have 3 skills causing nerves, but only one that goes 1/5, and two at 1/2, the first two could push us to two, then the third would have to hit 3 more times to keep us at 5, right? So it'd be easier to keep someone at a lower level of affliction rather than higher.

This is mostly possible with Auric due to strong self-synergy between Auric 3 and Auric 4. The time mean time* between reishi curings is 8s at level 4, which means that an attacker can get off 2 aeon tarots for every one time you can cure. If it weren't for Aeon and Void both being very strong hindering afflictions that work well together, it wouldn't be nearly as easy.

*Counting the 2 aeon delay, void failure chances and the 5s herb timer. Given by 5 + ∑ 2[1/3]^n from n=0 to infinity

It seems like getting people to five won't be very hard if you have any passives that are on the same cure balance.

EDIT: Or any friends in the room helping!

This. Just walking though a dem into a group is likely to put you at what?
  • Tarot defenses should now show on defenses btw.

So, Qoivhae made an interesting discovery:

Overhaul hallucinations (level 4 in the delusions tree and maximum effect from the Moon tarot) currently has a 25% chance of angelic visions (stun), a 25% chance of a pink bunny (also stun), a 25% chance of forcing a character to DIVE and a 25% chance of spiders erupting from your mouth (afflicts with Nerves 1/3).

In light of this, I would ask that the Moon have its power cost removed. If Aeon doesn't have a power cost, neither should Moon.
  • I am disappointed in you Iytha, I expect better. Apparently there is 125% of an affliction from moon?

That aside, yes we can remove the power cost.
  • Hrm? Why should the power cost be removed? 50% chance to stun and 25% chance to get another affliction level is pretty strong. Instead of looking to make the skills more powerful and "balancing" them based on currently unbalanced afflictions like the auric affliction tree, I think we should be concentrating on the actual viability of the system, the affliction speeds and cures etc instead. If you insist something must be done, aeon should get a power cost, not the other way around.

  • Because hallucinations is a level 4 aff, moon tarot does 1 level at a time. So you spent 8p if they DIDNT CURE, to get a stun.
  • Gotta agree. Moon only had a power cost because it was changed to cause 3 afflictions at once. If it's 3/4, sure, keep the power cost. If it's 1/4, remove it.

I feel like many things will need to have their power costs adjusted depending on the strength of the tree, how fast curing eventually ends up being and how much the particular skill adds...so I wouldn't sweat it too much. The power cost is probably just an accidental carry-over.
