Try casting players instead of RL movie people. The results would probably be amazing.

Oh, I didn't use actual movie people really. It's more inspiration. Like for screenplay, I have Lovecraft and Dr. Seuss.

I don't know all of this stuff, but the soundtrack would be a mixture of Sondheim, Bernadette Peters, and organ music.

It's because so many facets of the game are outright broken and protected by those who benefit from it being that way. An overabundance of gimmicks (including game-breaking ones), artifacts that destroy any concept of balance, blatant pay-to-win features, and an obsession with convenience that makes few things actually worthwhile all contribute to the game's sad decline.

Director/Producer: Michael Bay, cause no one does explosions better than him. (In reality I'm not sure. Maybe James Cameron)
Script: Probably Blizzard. Hate WoW/Warcraft all you like, there's some seriously amazing lore if you read the books, and not just play the games.
Art Direction: Square or maybe Hideo Kojima.
    Costumes: No idea.
    Music: Nobuo Uematsu for sure.
Main Actress (voice): Patricia Mattson or Piera Coppola, the ones who voice Sylvanas in WoW/Warcraft. (emotional scene, beware)

Evidently it wouldn't be a live action movie. Maybe CGI at best.

eta: If only my char was a dude. Would definitely choose Kyle Hebert.

Main actor/actress: Frank Dillane as Eryth
    The drone, the whistle, the thundrous sound;
It seared their eyes, it shook the ground.
    One hundred thousand voices lift,
While ashes like dirty snowfall drift.

The clouds of purple glowing gas,
The tiny sun is rising fast.
    Your star...
    Is on the rise.
