Well while I'm not completely against a Day 1 lynch, there's too little being said since no-one is taking Sylandra up on setup speculation for anything other than a shot in the dark.

To try and spark some chat before the day ends, and going only on whatever scraps of Roman history have filtered through to me and some Wikipedia link-clicking...

Portius' Eternal City setup appears to rule out any particular time period, so hard to say who mafia will be. However, think a similar spectrum of mafia from across the entire time period could be likely so we might see:

Hannibal - Punic Wars, Carthage...  "Provincials are in rebellion"
Brutus - Senate Conspirator... "Conspirators walk the city streets"
Alaric I - Visigoth, sacked Rome... "Enemies are at the gate"

I could be down to vote None, but going to wait and see how people find Ushaara's topic. If not a lot, I'll vote.

Proscribe: No Lynch because that's the only day 1 road we've ever known.

But I do think Ushaara brings up a good point that we could hypothetically see people from any time period in the Roman Empire, meaning we could see a lot of very different faces. "Rome the Eternal City" is a pretty big theme to work with!

(Hmm, might be time for me to watch that HBO show...)

Hmm, I sort of read the OP as there maybe being three different mafia/3p factions opposing town (i.e., "rebellion", "conspirators", and vengeful "enemies"), though your interpretation is interesting too. Dunno the others you mentioned, but Brutus seems like a good call. Maybe he 3p wins when Caesar dies.

That's right, my new baseless fluffy conspiracy theory has been born.  B)  You heard it here first.

While multiple factions might be possible, for a game of this size I think we're more likely to see town members with additional win conditions, like in the Gods and Monsters mafia.

For those who weren't there, or don't remember, there were three angels in that game. Rafael was just standard town, but both Michael and Gabriel would only enjoy a full win if they also ensured the other angels were eliminated, so they could be the sole herald of Yahweh. They also had to win with town.

Even though all were technically town, some had incentive to see to the elimination of specific allies if they could claim conditions without threatening a town victory otherwise.

That said, I also agree that pushing too hard for a lynch today is liable to be unfruitful, and not accomplish much.

  • (assuming I remember the time periods correctly here.. slap me if i am wrong Portius. Yes I am going To rp rto the best of my ability the role I was Given!  I am just operating on the assumption that somehow our true identities are masked from each other?)

@Ushaara I was not seriously claiming to be Spartacus!  I was merely referencing the fact so many claimed to be him in our lands before my time as a Roman.    however the rest of your logic on the fact we may see people from various time periods is the conclusion I am operating under as well.

With that said my vote for @Shaddus is that his mind seems to easily to jump to conclusions on the origins of others. Clearly a pagan minded thing to do and such should not be tolerated within the Empire.
