  • Mornings. I disagree with them on principle. I especially disagree with going to working these so-called ‘daylight’ hours. More like burning daystar hours.

  • Just in case anyone thought that cooking in a restaurant was glamorous...
Tonight I had to go behind several days worth of lazy cooks to empty out the egg trap (where the waste/run-off from the egg grill gets dropped down into). I retched repeatedly, and as a grown-ass woman of 33, had to run away holding my stomach so I didn’t hurl. Twice.

I really, really hate lazy people.

Only people who never worked in a restaurant would think that. I truly sympathize with you. I managed to get myself out of that world years ago and I don't miss it in the least.

As for my own dissatisfaction... I completed a contract last April and then had to start looking for a new job afterwards. I got a few interviews but never succeeded to get hired. Every month, I see my bank account getting lower and lower. At this rate, I'll have to go back working some crappy job at minimum wage and I really, really don't want to. Thank God I don't have a kid to support.

I hear you. Two small kids not in school yet here. Could start looking for something else, but I actually like my job when I’m not busy being a nursemaid.

  • "That's not how mommy does it" "What WE always do..." "This tastes different from usual!"
...Child, it is water that I boiled and put on top of packaged oatmeal. Of the few explanations I can think of for why it would "taste different", the most logical is that you are a critical, picky child who is imagining things.

Ironically, her mother knows I am an excellent cook and has changed the way she does some things after seeing how I do them. *sigh* Babysitting...

Ugh hurricane grocery shopping. The moment a tropical storm is whispered of, bam, it’s a fight for all the quality non perishable goods. You always wind up with weird stuff you otherwise never would buy.

(But joke is on you, universe, for I bought water early this year!)

Okay, that made me really mad.

PATH TRACK CAVEHARMONY, from the Aetherplex, just walked me into a freaking timequake. And of course, nobody cares why the two nobodies walked in, they just get slaughtered anyway.

    17:56:57 You say, "What."
    17:56:59 You say, "Why."
17:57:06 You frown and say, "I wasn't even trying to come in here."
17:57:13 You say to Merlose, "Sorry."
17:57:13 Researcher Merlose says, "We just want out, please."

Very civil of everyone involved. Thank you kindly for ensuring your much-needed kills on us.

Neither of you are nobodies; you both have participated in timequakes fairly regularly, in fact.
At the time, nobody knew there was a bug involved.  It isn't the first time people have wandered into a rift and said things to try to avoid death (note: I wasn't in the room when either of you spoke, so I saw none of your words).  But when you pointed out to me afterwards that there was a bug I looked into the reasons why, filed an extensive report, and also suggested leaving the next person who didn't know what was going on and path tracked in by accident alone.
This is a conflict game, conflict happens!  It's really miserable when something happens because of a bug, especially when nobody knows that there's a bug until after the fact and they can put together the pieces (which does not often happen in the middle of actual PvP).  Making a forum post about it doesn't really make it better (well, in my opinion-- maybe it does for you).

  • I mean, I certainly get it. We landed in a conflict zone, and were going to die for it. There's not much reason to do otherwise. For RP reasons, of course, because you sure couldn't be looking for a fight from me. And that's fine.

It just always for me stands in contrast to a timequake I went to, asked to not be killed, and was told "Yeah, sure. If you ask nicely and aren't an enemy or a threat, we'll usually let you go. We're not as uncivilized as everyone makes us out to be." And then I had a nice chat for 10 minutes or so until the timequake was about to end and was helpfully escorted out.

And yes, maybe that doesn't happen in the middle of "actual pvp" but me and Alexandria walking into a rift by accident and then standing there getting killed while not fighting back and asking to just be let go... I wouldn't match it to that definition, personally.

So I get it, and I don't hold it against you guys, really. But that doesn't mean it was fun.

I absolutely get the unfun part of it.  I believe I referred to it as "miserable."  Path track should never take you into a rift; being dropped into guaranteed PvP entirely by surprise would make very few people happy.  I don't by any means expect you to be jumping for joy about the situation; I do think that people who don't know the situation acted about as they would be expected to.  Knowing the situation could (and did) change reactions a bit for the subsequent visitor.
PS: When I refer to "actual PvP" I am referring more to the spam of lots of people fighting.  So I very definitely did not pick the right wording.  Maybe more along the lines of "PvP spam" would be closer to what I was going for.

The fact that a bug (which I did bug) while I was on my way to hunt, not PK, caused me to stand there, saying I wasn't there to fight nor had I intended to be there, still got me killed needlessly (and while it doesn't cost essence in there, it does cost me time to def again, and also willpower to do so because dammit, I just wanted to bash) is aggravating. Everytime I ever try to leave (which I do, if the odds are overwhelming) I am soundly ignored. Even if I am standing at a rift and trying to leave, I have been blocked repeatedly from doing so by use of currents, at times. I understand the desire for PK, but I really doubt that battering us with odds multiple times in your favour while we stand there doing nothing isn't likely to encourage further participation. As it is, I have almost entirely given up attending timequakes unless it is 3am and nobody is around. Merlose and I had already explicitly said IC, before we ended up there thanks to the bug, that we had no desire to go to a timequake.

And yes, ranting for a brief moment without naming names did make me feel better. Going back to the game and finding some RP made me feel better too.

While I arrived late to see you say it was an accident. Honestly very few people look at says in the spam of fights. It is hard enough keeping track of the information someone needs without losing time with says.

Also I am going to say the unpopular thing here, be the change you want to see. I once suggested letting enemies in so they could get their dailycredits and was promptly informed they used to do this but it got abused. Likewise none of us get the same courtesy when we enter a timequake outnumbered by a large force.

You're barking up the wrong tree. I already do. I even posted an entire thread about it a while ago.

Unless you've changed your color for says, or for some awful reason play Lusternia without a black background, I'm gonna go ahead and say that bright ass cyan is VERY easy to see even in combat spam, especially a whole line of it. But because it technically can be easily lost, most people opt to ignore it and keep laying on their damage button.

And in actual fairness, usually people only use says to complain or trash talk in PvP, so I definitely get that. But maybe in timequakes it would behoove people to chill out a little bit. We're running into that territory again of dominant groups stifling out participation and making the game unfun.

Or, at least, I just want people to settle on "we will KOS enemies no matter what" or "we'll give you a pass if you're clearly not a strong PVP entity". I dislike wishy-washiness and I especially dislike holier-than-thou behavior. But that also places an onus on people seeking safe passage to not abuse hospitality, especially against places like Glomdoring that have an inbuilt directive to be merciless.

  • Grr! While I'm glad the admin are repeatedly tweaking presents to make them more valuable, what this constant upgrade of rewards after you've purchased them is telling me is that spending at the start of the month is a waste of money. Just wait until the last day so everything is finally fixed.  :/
