Having a problem

So seemingly, everytime I hear ANYONE speak, and it isn't directed towards me specifically, it shows up as
A faceless voice says, "[whatever]."
I've asked multiple people in-game about the problem and the best idea they could come up with is it's because everyone's shrouded and I don't have thirdeye yet? But that doesn't even make sense, because like I said, it's happening every time ANYONE talks, even NPCs like Finko.
Does anyone know what the deal is with this? It's really, really annoying and makes it next to impossible to follow conversations.

I've never heard anything like that before... I can also guarantee it doesn't have anything to do with thirdeye or shroud (as you've already guessed), since it doesn't happen to my alt. Best I can figure is that something got wonky in the new intro, and I'd suggest you BUG it.
