Are armoured familiars actually invincible?

After we smacked mine around a bit, he layed down to take a nap. Does that mean he's actually taking damage?

No. They do that any time they pacify, as hitting them makes them aggressive towards the attacker.

An armored beast will take no damage and will rush back to the side of the owner when they are hit anyways.

Sleeping means there was a change in their health, negatively or positively. The pacify thing is incorrect. I know this because nymphs pacify things all the time and the only time they lay down to sleep is if I attacked them.

It probably means it took 1 damage, or the armour gives it unlimited health (if that's possible). For all practical purposes it is invincible.
