Sexual harassment is also generally a factor in why people start complaining about "Snugglewilde" again, aside from innuendo there's also often issues around a lack of consent with sexualised emoting.
So, if there was someone complaining about your behaviour either it wasn't just you inviting people to a herofete, or you've looked at someone's words and decided they're targeted at yourself.
edit: Pulling this back on topic.
Again, if you want to engage in behaviours or rp IC it makes no real sense to me that you would go to an OOC clan rather than finding or creating an IC one that enables you to pursue RP that you want.
Afaik, if someone wants to make "Innuendo Town the clan" go for it, it doesn't necessitate it being OOC, and I doubt anyone's really going to care if it's only people who have consented to being in that environment seeing it.
General note to Serenwilders, other players will take you as seriously (or not) as you take yourselves. This stuff isn't invisible to us, either, and it affects the way your org is thought of and treated, both ooc and ic. If you're all ok with that... keep on keeping on, I guess. Just like everything else, there's consequences for it.
Edit: I think I've been very careful to not use emotes without consent, or make crude jokes in public, but if I have done anything that makes one of your characters feel uncomfortable, I would like you to send me a message going 'That was not ok'. I'm not perfect and I want to know of there's anything I need to watch out for and fix about how I behave.
That aside, I can't stand OOC clans. I often have 'just turned them off' and found my enjoyment in the game go up considerably, only to have someone ping me (Soandso tells you, "// do you have xyz clan turned off?") and realize that there's a whole conversation relating to mostly IC matters occurring in an OOC clan that others are trying to talk to me in. It's incredibly annoying and considerably detracts from the overall game for me.
Tonight amidst the mountaintops
And endless starless night
Singing how the wind was lost
Before an earthly flight
theatre due to the snowy weather.
hungering malice.

ANYWAY. On topic.
I couldn't decide on a vote. I don't think they should be removed entirely, but I know personally I RP better - less lazily - when I'm not getting the socialisation on a clan. Don't get me wrong. I am in some (though I went through a time of cutting them all out and it was really great for me) and I don't always chat, and I don't always listen, but it's a nice option.
What I loathe, and what I flipped out about in the past, was the level of metagaming that went on in them at times, at the IC things planned out in the clans without everyone having the benefit to participate or be involved. Like city projects and deciding who would design it when people outside the cool kids club would love to be involved too. In deciding which person to make as the next figurehead of x guild and who can we convince to vote, that sort of thing. It's a scourge on the game, all this stuff could and should be RPed out in character. That's why I hate ooc clans.
Alternatively sometimes I love them because I'm logged in at work, lurking in my manse but can still join in on some idle chat despite not being free to properly play. It's catch 22.
I think you have it backwards, to bar a behavior you should have to demonstrate it should be barred, not the other way around.
Even in the case you cited you could turn on the channel you want and turn it off during other times.
>> My personal experience has been seeing people getting silence on IC channels while people are constantly talking on OOC clans, I have seen discussions on these OOC clans that result in IC actions (Which guess what, isn't against the rules cause all clans are IC if anyone in them decides to do this)
That doesn't mean that the person on the OOC clan would be more talkative on the IC channel if you they weren't in an OOC clan. Just because someone is willing to talk about x doesn't mean they will engage in y.
>>So why exactly should someone attracted by the rp focus that this game is sold on, bother to stick around if you can't roleplay with people cause they're too busy memeing in OOC clans to do anything.
I won't say that there isn't RP on IC channels, but, if we exclude IC clans (which exist) then I've not seen a big change between now and say 10 years ago.
