So Shaddus started a drive 8 days ago when we fell out of the top 20, and it's gotten us to 9th in little over a week, with 8th and 7th not far ahead.
More votes guys, with doomplot 2013/2014 building up, now is a great time to grab new people and show them how awesome this game is, especially with Ascension only a few months away.
However, as a couple of people pointed out on the FB group, the game description is..slightly lacking in attractiveness. How easy is it to have the description changed on the site @Estarra?
PS. VOTE!
The divine voice
of Avechna, the Avenger reverberates powerfully, "Congratulations,
Morkarion, you are the Bringer of Death indeed."
You see Estarra the Eternal shout, "Morkarion is no more! Mourn the mortal! But welcome True Ascendant Karlach, of the Realm of Death!
We're up to 6th place, with another 90 votes we'll be up to 4th place! Head on over to http://www.topmudsites.com/vote-estarra.html and help us get that little bit closer to the top of the table! (We still need around 600 more votes though to knock midkemia from 2nd place)
Never put passion before principle. Even if you win, you lose.
If olive oil comes from olives, where does baby oil come from?
If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?
Considering what we've accomplished in roughly 9 days, I hope we can shove this momentum forward into next month, we can easily hit second and even push for first against all odds.
Keep voting, we need fresh meat for the grinder!

It's a new year and we're holding on to 4th. Go forth!
The Necromentate's mind opens to you, and a grotesque, demonic figure appears in your mind's eye, screaming in torment: "THE DEMON LORDS CAN NEVER TRULY BE KILLED - GREAT IS THEIR POWER."
You shock a platinum-coloured geomycus with tales of terror bestowed on villages who don't follow Magnagora. A platinum-coloured geomycus slaps her knee and declares that, by the gods, Ptoma Hive should follow the Grand Empire of Magnagora after all! Shouts rise up from Ptoma Hive, as its denizens loudly pledge themselves to the Grand Empire of Magnagora.
Your aura of weapons rebounding disappears. One of your reflections has been destroyed! You have 0 left. You play a stately chord on a worn lute and direct the notes towards a lag beast. Holy fire erupts at the feet of a lag beast and engulfs him. The charred corpse of a lag beast collapses in a heap of white ash. You have slain a lag beast. You suddenly scoop up the corpse of a lag beast.

Viravain, Lady of the Thorns shouts, "And You would seize Me? Fool! I am the Glomdoring! I am the Wyrd, and beneath the cloak of Night, the shadows of the Silent stir!"
So I have been thinking, Lusternia seems to have a pretty low in to out ratio (0.207 people click on our link for every 1 person who votes for it at the moment) compared to just about every other game in the top 20. The only one with a lower in:out ratio is #20: Alter Aeon. I only took the survey just now, but have noticed the same general thing in the past, although I never checked the ratios before.
I think that there are probably 3 factors determining whether someone clicks a link:
1) do they already know the game
2) how high up the game is in the rankings,
and 3) the blurb for the game.
Here are the 2 highest in/out ratio blurbs:
New Worlds Ateraan:
Demanding roleplay, strong guilds, advanced economics, deadly politics, and in depth religion. Unique ships offering weapons, pirates, whaling, and deep sea fishing. Join a merchant caravan, a sea armada, or tip an ale in the tavern in our FREE World!
DragonRealms:
The most complex and highly-developed MUD, evolving since 1996. Advanced combat, magic, & skill systems, unique guilds & races. Craft gear, open a shop, own a home, explore for hours. Hundreds playing in a rich world of intrigue, law & lawlessness.
Of the IRE games, Aetolia has the best ratio:
Enter a world where men can be beasts, vampires prey upon mortals, and even simple reality may be mere lies. Complex PvP, mature roleplaying environment, intricate crafting and class system. Free to play!
Here is Lusternia's blurb:
From Iron Realms Entertainment! This incredible MUD includes over 600 quests, 700+ abilities/spells, intense PvP combat, customizeable player governments, dynamic economy, and an emphasis on extra-planar travel. Free to play!
And the lowest ranked blurb Alter Aeon:
A newbie-friendly MUD set in a fantastic magical realm. Explore nearly 400 areas and complete over 500 quests while wielding powerful magic or deadly swords. Group with friends or raise your own minion army. Blind-friendly and free to play!
The 3rd lowest ranking blurb is for the Carrion Fields:
Adventure, politics and war await you in this life of swords, sorcery, deception, and honor. With 16 diverse, balanced classes, 200+ unique areas, deep RP, limited items, and xp-based PK, we've expanded, adapted, and improved for 15+ years. 100% free!
The pattern I noticed was that the blurbs which describe the things you can do and a bit about the world seem to do better than the ones that list stats and game features about the world, and I think Lusternia falls into the latter category.
So I thought maybe we should come up with a new blurb that might be more attractive! The one I came up with is:
A world united fractured after a cataclysmic event! Rise to power in one of the 6 nations - or tear down another, create new books and works of art, form a merchant empire or powerful trading cartel, sail the aether sea, and fan your divine spark into demigod-hood or even ascendancy!
I am not sure whether its possible to change the blurb, or even something that's desired, but I was just trying to come up with more ways to generate Lusternian traffic! Maybe we could try to come up with some and see if any sound particularly enticing?
