Re: Pretty Parrot Mafia!

My understanding from Sapphira is that her power allowed her to open a line of communication to me night one, and we've been able to talk freely at night ever since (though not actually night one itself)

So she's used up her power, and given that thax had a specific power for detecting night chats, I'm inclined to believe Coraline should have seen Sapphira as vanilla if that was all there was to it. And Sapphira's confusion over Coraline's power might explain why Coraline survived.

But I would really like to hear from Mysrai.

It is disheartening to see confirmation of the OOC toxicity: personal character attacks, gaslighting and wishing harm upon another player, but hopefully once this collective cathartic moment has passed we can begin the hard work of addressing the things that create such a toxic environment and break with the players that promote toxicity.

I can not really comment on Ixion extending that courtesy or not, I don't know with him. I've only experienced him in his IC capacity and I never was in an org that was allied with him. My optimistic / harmony loving heart wishes of course that anyone finding themselves in such a position would consider extending such a courtesy to their IC opponents in a game, given such a situation.

What I want to endorse, and hence my quoting, is that last bit that @Ruiku said. Pushing forward and past OOC toxicity in this community is extremely important and it addresses all of us. Not one "side", not one "group", not one "org", literally everyone. The amount of people in every org from the top of my head that come across as toxic if you're on their "enemy" side and are super lovely great people once you get past that "enemy" label in this community is staggering. People here are generally lovely, caring and great. We should strive to turn out these aspects on an OOC base. Not telling you to like people you don't, but there's a certain baseline everyone can achieve and it would, I think, all of our experiences better, IC and OOC.

Especially in times where the world around us is literally in flames, pushing forward to become a community that is not toxic to each other is a goal I feel we should aim for.

Re: Lusternian AMA

I know this isn't strictly an RP thing, but a mechanical complaint - but it does directly influence RP.

Hallifax and Gaudiguch's players can't afford to be as aggressive as they might want to be due to the fact that Master Crystals and Fleshpots are relatively very easy to take down. That sword is constantly over the neck of any Halli or Gaudi combatant, the threat of several days worth of work and grief just to recover from a smob raid. It "forces" a more temperate approach to RP when discussing conflict.

Conversely, the might of Seren and Glom's Avatars allows their players to be pretty much as aggressive as they care to be, because what're people gonna do? Kill Silver Ladies/Daughters? Slay Maeve and pull Xion Initiative, severely risking alienating their allied forest? That is something that has always frustrated me.

I thought we were just really zen and cool and transcended the barbarism of brutal, protracted warfare.  :'(

I agree with almost all of what Ruiku said, except I think we should at least try to reach out to "toxic" players. Call me optimistic or naive, but I'm a believer of the idea that toxicity is an aspect of situations, not persons, and situations can be fixed to the betterment of everyone.

Re: Announce Post #3061: Ascension Postmortem

Synl I completely agree with you, much better things to do than burst a blood vessel over a game, however, I would reference the conversation in the Unofficial Discord shortly after the announcement in regards to OOC vitriol. You were there, I believe, and may have had the opportunity to read them, they were many.

To be frank, the people saying that Ixion would NEVER allow Choros to Ascend had Ixion won are categorically wrong. Numerous players have had an overwhelmingly positive interaction with Ixion, both IC/OOC also know that Ixion would have extended the same courtesy to Parhelion. I do wish more of these players would speak up, but I understand and respect your silence.

It is disheartening to see confirmation of the OOC toxicity: personal character attacks, gaslighting and wishing harm upon another player, but hopefully once this collective cathartic moment has passed we can begin the hard work of addressing the things that create such a toxic environment and break with the players that promote toxicity.

Re: Lusternian AMA

Most of that which disgruntles me is not really the lore itself, but rather how players outside Glomdoring treat the lore, especially if they have never played in it. Especially things with Brother Crow's aspects and tenets, primarily False Memory. It doesn't help that Glomdoring's supposed to be really secretive about its lore and has had bad raps in the past, so I can't exactly go "hey, you're wrong, and here's why", but that's more of a player-based problem.

That, and as Lief and Jolanthe mentioned before, how the fae are kind of really watered down, only really physically reminiscent of their real-life mythical counterparts. I also wish there were more wyrden fae that willingly chose the Wyrd rather than forced to be bound to it. I wish there were more household-type fae that protect things or places, Faethorn or otherwise.

Also, where are my non-binary Elder gods at? :( I know the original histories were made way back in... 2004 or earlier, and being non-binary was considered even more of a fad than it is now. Regardless, I really wish that in future lore that's revealed or otherwise implemented that we have more references to non-binary Elders (and NPCs; yes, I know that it's not in for NPCs yet, code-wise, but still! I can dream).

Re: Announce Post #3061: Ascension Postmortem

I guess what I want you to say is that there are people who are taking this destructive mindsey OOCly and that that is harmful to the game environment.

Tossing it into the water, you say, "Godspeed, little salad."
These were very good logs.

Thing is, TAs don't necessarily stay put. In fact, one of the mainstay features of TA that really, truly separates them from the VA is their ability to move around to new orgs without losing their status. I can see this from the "strictly competitive" angle, but in the long-run of the game and from a roleplaying angle its just bad business. If Parhelion moved to, say, Gaudiguch in two months time, would that also devastate your sense of accomplishment?

This is also not something limited to you - Serenwilde had TAs that hopped over to Glomdoring. These things happen. I think this sort of framing and attitude is just not a good approach for the event.

Devastated? No. Not devastated now either. A little annoyed and upset? Yep. Would also be the case should they org hop too. That, I understand, is mostly due to the way I accept responsibilities and interpret loyalty. Presented with the option - org hop to an opposing org, after having been given 100% trust and effort from my allies, or go inactive/retire, if I'm no longer having fun, I'd chose the later, 11 times out of 10. That's beyond the point though.

Maybe it's because I'm on the younger end of the player spectrum, but this mentality of "My main goal is to make others lose" seems incredibly destructive.
I don't think I can word this properly, but I think there is a little confusion in your statement. If you would replace "others" with "enemy", I'm sure you'll find that it's no longer "incredibly destructive", but instead it's "reasonably destructive". There are two alliances, at war with each other. While TA does not give an enormous advantage, it is still there. What exactly do you believe is wrong, with wanting to beat your enemy?

I'll be happy to continue this discussion elsewhere, as I feel we're really off topic by now.
