It feels like newer skills all have instakill mechanics that reward failure. For example, failing an aoe timequake (10 power) will apply timeechoes (normally 3 power on a single target) to all affected enemies. In that sense, if there are more than 3 enemies in a room it is actually preferable to start with a failed timequake in order to put a 3 power 2 minute affliction on all personal enemies within the room, as it would take more power (and balances) to put timeechoes on each person individually.

It is the same with this skill. 26-35 Holy Fire does 40% current ego damage while 36-50 holyfire does 55% current ego damage. This means that if the target has less than 83% max ego, then 26 holy fire (a third of maximum, ostensibly an easy threshold to reach based on existing leveled afflictions) will put them in ego kill range for mindburst, climax, and eternalsleep.

If ego damage must be a part of HolyFire, then HolyFire must be treated the same as Timewarp and Tempinsaity for instakill purposes with middling ego damage before 50 and exponentially increased ego damage above 50. Something like:

0 HolyFire 2% current ego damage
15-25 HolyFire 5% current ego damage
26-35 HolyFire 10% current ego damage
36-50 HolyFire 25% current ego damage
51-70 HolyFire: 65% current ego damage
75 HolyFire: 100% current ego damage

Oh there is no way this would ever be willing, but that makes answering this more fun. We're talking full on Rites of Abomination here, yeah?

One of two things would happen. One would be that Lantra's Purity complex would be completely inverted. She would stand for the exact opposite of what she stands for now, which is the sanctity of Creation as Dynara first envisioned it. Instead, she would be seeking to complete the natural "next step" of Dynara's creation -- making her later, I think, a pro-Taint, Magnagoran entity. Because if corruption and corrosion is ultimately inevitable and irreversible, then why not accelerate that end, and relent to completing Dynara's last sacred mission?

The other answer is that she would be so horrified by what she had become she would lose her mind. She's too in tune with the immanidivinus etherea, I think. She would be too aware of the ways that the rites had changed what Dynara had made her. I think she would go insane.

So Sapphira was indulging in a little self-pitying inner monologue, (super embarrassingly) this was noticed which lead to a first ever encounter with Nocht. And it was pretty damn great, he is super creepy cool. Sapphira may never get over feeling like she's waving pathetic about on a flag because of it, but me the evil puppet-master thoroughly enjoyed it!
