Family things

Hi! I don't have a specific idea, but rather had two questions regarding families, and wanted to encourage some discussion on it.

1. Is there a reason why bloodbonded siblings aren't shown in FAMILY TREE <PERSON>, when born-into-family siblings do show up?

I will offer an example! Svorai bloodbonded with Kregarn to form the Sablewing family (though both married out to different families and Sablewing is now inactive).

Anyway, we are shown as siblings when you do this:

FAMILY RELATION KREGARN
Kregarn is your brother.

But not when you do this:

FAMILY TREE KREGARN
Kregarn is a first generation member of the House of Shee-Slaugh by marriage.
Kregarn was born into the Sablewing family.
Parents: Unknown
Children:
   Aleyah Shee-Slaugh <m: Neraiche> <p: Tzephanya+Kregarn>
   Adrien Shee-Slaugh <m: Javi> <p: Tzephanya+Kregarn>
Grandchildren:
   Aurik Shee-Slaugh <p: Neraiche+Aleyah>

No siblings, woe!

To compare, those born into a house have this message:

FAMILY TREE IORWEN
Iorwen is a first generation member of the House of Shee-Slaugh.
Iorwen was born into the House of Shee-Slaugh.
Parents:
   Eliron Shee-Slaugh <b: Onz'Verheu> <m: Druken>
   Druken Shee-Slaugh <m: Eliron>
Siblings:
   Carmine Shee-Slaugh <p: Druken+Eliron>
   Meiko Shee-Slaugh <p: Druken+Eliron>
   Vitas Shee-Slaugh <p: Druken+Eliron>
   Odette Shee-Slaugh <p: Druken+Eliron>
   Lyrinae Shee-Slaugh <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Lyora Shee-Slaugh <m: Ssaliss> <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Ellinwood Shee-Slaugh <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Gremly Shee-Slaugh <m: Pruxi> <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Tzephanya Shee-Slaugh <m: Kregarn> <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Myste Shee-Slaugh <m: Kalaneya> <p: Eliron+Druken>
   Stratas Shee-Slaugh <p: Eliron+Druken>
Children: None

So many siblings :(

Anyway, I'd love for siblings of bloodbonded families to show up in FAMILY TREE <PERSON>.

Question number...

2. Is there a specific reason why bloodbonded progenitors who are now inactive in that family (married out, not rejected), can't bloodbond people into that family to renew it?

Oh you! Hey, you're also my brother. Awesome, come be in our family.

But no. :(

I know the current mechanics don't allow things like this to happen, but I wondered -- is there a reason why? Is there something I've overlooked in my enthusiasm?

And if not... puhleeez can this be a thing?

  • To the latter, it's because of how the family system derives permission. There's no reasonable way (without recoding things) to figure out why someone isn't in the family anymore. And that being said, why should someone who isn't in the family be letting people into the family? They made the conscious decision to leave the family (or were consciously removed) - either way, they've surrendered the right to affect that family in the process.

As to the first, it's probably just how FAMILY SHOW finds people. Bloodbonding doesn't necessarily mean 'sibling', it can mean 'blood brother' or 'like a brother'. That might be changeable, but in case it hasn't been said, Family code is an ugly, scary thing...
  • :( Sadness. @Eventru, you are the bringer of tears.

    But okay. Thanks.
