Tae'dae with Rach, say "Human"

With your mighty index finger extended, you poke Rach.

You tilt your head and listen intently to Rach.

Rach pats you in a friendly manner.

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says something unintelligible, filled with rumbling, hearty laughter.

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You intensely study the tae'dae language until you can speak and write like a native.

With your mighty index finger extended, you poke Rach.

Rach chuckles long and heartily.

You say, "I don't understand you."

She is a burly tae'dae. Long thick brown fur covers her entire body, giving a natural shine where
ever it finds light. Piercing oval eyes of blue stare out from behind her fur. Every bend of her
limbs gives a brief view of the rippling muscles bellow.
She is wearing:
a canvas backpack
an off-shoulder, honey-gold cotton dress
a pair of glassblade gloves.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "No I don't have any food for you."

Rach shrugs helplessly.

You blink.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "We can find some!"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You shall now speak in Tae'dae.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Why do I need food?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "Is that what you were saying this whole time?"

You tilt your head and listen intently to Rach.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Well it's not like I understood you!"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "How are you speaking bear?!"

You ask, in Tae'dae, "You don't speak common?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "You do?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "I speak bear because you are bear."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Never thought I would need to learn it."

Rach shrugs helplessly.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Everyone speaks common, little bear."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Why speak common when bear is such a strong language?"

You ask, in Tae'dae, "Is it?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "All well learned bears know tae'dae!"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "All smart bears know common."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Not that you aren't smart."

"Bah!" Rach retorts disgustedly.

You blink.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "It comes up less than you think!"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You shake your head.

Rach ponders the situation.

You ask Rach, in Tae'dae, "What are you doing?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "Come with me?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "I teach you common."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I learned some pointy ear."

You ask, in Tae'dae, "How?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I asked a pointy ear."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Then speak it."

You urge Rach onwards.

Unscarred Rach says something unintelligible in a beautiful, fluid tongue.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Wow."

You say, in Tae'dae, "That is nice."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "That's the only bit though."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Hmm, I don't know that language."

You say, in Tae'dae, "But I can learn it."

You beckon to Rach.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I made best friends with a pointy ear."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Rach begins to follow you.

You ask, in Tae'dae, "Who?"

Rach follows you west.
An expansive library of silver and ironwood.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Very hard pointy ear name."

You intensely study the elfen language until you can speak and write like a native.

You shall now speak in Elfen.

You say, in Elfen, "Elfen speak again?"

You shall now speak in Tae'dae.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Speak Elfen again?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Elfen, "Best friend."

Comprehension flashes across your face.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I learned it to talk to best friend."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Who is?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Very hard pointy ear name."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Eleniel."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "She gave me honey."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Eleniel!"

You say, in Tae'dae, "She is my wife."

Rach claps her hands together merrily.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Hmm, in bear language, wife."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Mate."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Is there wife in bear language?"

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Mate?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "Mate?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I think mate."

Comprehension flashes across your face.

You ask Rach, in Tae'dae, "Where is bear mate, you?"

You ponder Rach thoughtfully, looking her up and down.

Rach stares implacably about herself.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "No bear mate."

You slump down dejectedly.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Am still young."

Comprehension flashes across your face.

You say, in Tae'dae, "You don't speak common, that is interesting."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "It doesn't come up."

You say, in Tae'dae, "It does."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I make many friends without it."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "We became friends almost immediately!"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Gave many friend pats."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Friend pats?"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Rach pats you in a friendly manner.

You say, in Tae'dae, "No no, pats bad."

Rach stares implacably about herself.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Pats for friends."

You shake your head.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Pats for babies."

Rach ponders the situation.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Small bears get pats."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Friend bears get friend pats."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You shake your head.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Furless bears don't like pats."

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Am offending new friends?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "It is, well, complex. Pats are for small bears."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Complex is in bear language, know what?"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Bear language has many words!"

Puffing up, you say, in Tae'dae, "Me, big bear, no pats. No little bear."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "No friend pats."

You say, in Tae'dae, "No no."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Friend hugs?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "Hugs? Well don't crush me."

Rach gives a trillingly melodic laugh.

Rach hugs you compassionately.

You hug Rach compassionately.

You wipe the back of your hand across your brow in relief.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Am careful, won't crush small ones."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "No that small."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Even the tiny flying pointy ears!"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You ask, in Tae'dae, "Tiny flying pointy ears?"

Rach places her hands together and flaps them like wings.

You have emoted: Torgaddon steps back to not get hit.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Chickens?"

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Pointy ears..."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "But smaller."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "And butterflyer."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You have emoted: Torgaddon rubs his chin.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Butterfly?"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You ask, in Tae'dae, "What about them?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "I don't squish them."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Comprehension flashes across your face.

You say, in Tae'dae, "That is good."

You say to Rach, in Tae'dae, "You need to speak common."

You say to Rach, in Tae'dae, "Who teaches you?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Pointy ear aeldra taught me best friend."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

Comprehension flashes across your face.

You ask, in Tae'dae, "She has pointy ears?"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Huh, learn something new every day."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Very smart for pointy ear, can speak bear."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "I am smart 'cause I speak bear?"

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Very!"

You have emoted: Torgaddon rubs his chin.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Not sure what you am though."

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Round ear?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "Me, I am round ear."

Rach shakes her head.

You clap your hands together merrily.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Round ear is."

You shall now speak in the common tongue.

You say, "Human."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, "Human."

You shall now speak in Tae'dae.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Can you say human in common?"

You urge Rach onwards.

Unscarred Rach says, "Uman."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Good good."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Do not think it will come up much."

You say, in Tae'dae, "It will."

You shall now speak in the common tongue.

You say, "Huh-human, human."

You urge Rach onwards.

You shall now speak in Tae'dae.

Unscarred Rach says, "Huh-huh-huuuman."

You say, in Tae'dae, "Close close."

Rach ponders the situation.

You say, in Tae'dae, "Now just say the word."

You shall now speak in the common tongue.

You say, "Human."

You shall now speak in Tae'dae.

Unscarred Rach says, "Human."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You beam broadly.

You say, in Tae'dae, "That is good."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "But when will I need it?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "When speaking to furless bears."

Rach ponders the situation.

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Why do not they learn bear?"

You say, in Tae'dae, "They can't."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "Strong language for smart bears."

Unscarred Rach says, in Tae'dae, "You can!"

Rach nods her head emphatically.

You say, in Tae'dae, "I am different."

Rach ponders the situation.

You have emoted: Torgaddon motions to his surroundings. "I still have to learn it, not natural."

Rach nods her head emphatically.

I know this is a bit late. But cute log!
The cool night-time breeze shivers in the arid caress of the streets of the capital city, brushing the earthen taste of dust across your lips.
    *
A blessed silence falls upon the city for the moment, most activity confined to the towers and the
theatre due to the snowy weather.
    *
Pinprick points of light twinkle in the deep black overhead, their brightness full of a cold,
    hungering malice.
