A Letter for the Liar

Shulamit decided the world needed a Liar tattoo, right over their hearts. Well. Gaudiguchians needed one in the city cartel. But! You can't just design a tattoo of someone else without their permission! So she sent this letter to the Liar first!

Oh dearest Liar! Oh wondrous Priest of the Shofet! Two things! One, look upon this you shaped stationery! Because you are good and lovely and deliver messages from Them, so I thought it fit!

Secondly! I was thinking of making a chest tattoo resembling yourself for Gaudiguch's city cartel, but wanted your permission first. It would look something like this? I wanted to make it so you're doing something fun, and eating is fun! I like eating. It might have to be tweaked, depending on reviews, but this is the very idea! Yes yes!

a gleaming gold and ebon tae'dae

Positioned directly over the heart, this tae'dae tattoo has been inked on with both ebon and gold tints, creating quite a striking appearance. They're sitting cross-legged, holding an absolutely massive pot on their lap. The pot has been inked on with both brown and gold tints, labelled in dark black as “Huney”. Slick looking honey covers both their hands, dripping down onto their legs and feet. Both of their eyes are closed, focused only on shovelling honey into their mouth. The entire tattoo is encased with a thin layer of pink ink shaped like a heart.

Thank you for your time, oh Beloved! Oh lovely!

- Shulamit Lunarose

And in return, Shulamit received this letter!

You read what is written on a citrus-and-honey scented letter:
(Scrawled above the opening to the letter is a note: I saved youse a lot
of trouble by writing down the important stuff, not everything,
otherwise this would have been a hundred pages long)

Dear Shiny Shulamit,

Hi! It's me, the Liar! I mean, I'm not the one who's actually writing
this because I don't know how, but I had a LOT of oranges saved up in
case people sent me more letters and I needed to send some back, because
the Shofet probably COULD write the letters for me, but I don't think
They have the time, and it doesn't really make... (Okay, so they spent
about twenty minutes here talking about nothin') ...but yes, so I
thought I should send you a letter about your idea of a skin picture!
(Spent another good thirty minutes here explainin' to me what a tattoo
was like I didn' know. I swear this kid don't get out much.)

I never thought anyone would want to put me on anything like that,
though I suppose since I didn't know about them I couldn't have, but
that's not really the point is it? I trust you to do it, because I saw
the letter when the Shofet gave it to me and even if I couldn't read all
the little squiggles on it, the actual letter was me! It was a little
me! Friend Gurashi would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous, and... (Okay, so
they want someone to send a letter to this 'Friend' person of theirs to
show off the fancy letter or somethin'. Your choice, toots, I could have
missed something in the twenty minutes that took) ...so yes, then I saw
the little picture on the letter, and I could see it was me! I mean,
unless there's other tae'dae with my fur colour, where I guess it could
be other people, but then why would the Shofet say that you were asking
if I thought it was okay? I don't really understand sometimes...but I
suppose that's okay, since I'm still learning everything I'm supposed
to!

Anyway, I think I'm getting a nasty look, and I don't think I can hide
the oranges no more, so... (Second pocket on the inside right side of
the tunic, the bulge is very obvious. I don't have the heart to tell
them I could have stolen them by now.) ...and hope you have a very nice
month, ma'am!

(An enormous, inky pawprint takes up the majority of the space left on
this letter)

the Liar

So Shulamit sent out a letter to Gurashi on the Liar letters! Which was

Dear Gurashi!

Hi hi! The Liar sends their regards!

Also they send their pride! In the form of being this very here letter! They would like you to see it, and know how cute they are! But you already know this, also being extremely cute! Like the Shofet's moths, I think! Only more cute, since you don't induce nightmares like the moths can! Or eat them!

I think? Wait, I remember someone once telling me Glomdoring people can eat dreams. But they didn't when I was kicked from Serenwilde, they gave me crow cookies and champagne, and hugs!

Ah, ah! Maybe this is the Liar's way of asking for more cute things of themselves? Or maybe just cute things? Are there Gurashi shaped cookies yet? Not cookies made by Gurashi, which there are quite a few. Oh! Oh! I know the thing to make myself, that will be a surprise for both of you! Oh yes!

(the faint scrawl of a half finished name is here, barely legible as Shulamit Lunarose, the last name little more than a wiggly line)

And then Shulamit ran off to design a gift for both the Liar and Gurashi, and they aren't allowed to know, but might beforehand anyway, but that's a secret.

Oh. The Liar letter! Design!

Appearance:
elegant black and gold tae'dae stationery
Dropped:
An elegant sheet of black and gold stationery shaped like a chubby tae'dae has been dropped here.
Examined:
Smooth as silk, this sheet of flax paper has been made from only the
finest and softest of fibres. Cut to resemble a modestly chubby tae'dae,
only the very centre of the tae'dae's tummy is mostly free of colour.
Black and gold inks swirl around the tae'dae's limbs in stark contrast
with one another. A dab of brown and green tints creates the mismatched
eyes on the tae'dae, as well as vibrant red ink used to etch a red
hieroglyph into the very centre of their forehead. Thin lines of red ink
also run across the tae'dae's belly, allowing one to write a relatively
cramped letter. The back of the stationery bears tiny boxes for
addressing the letter.

That's not the gift to either Gurashi or the Liar, it's just what was sent to both!
Bookbinder by trade! Designer of most other things.

  • I. Loved this. I loved the letter when I got it, I read it to my wife, I -loved- it. Shulamit's the perfect person to exchange letters with the Liar. Now to formulate a response! <3
