Newly back to the game after 6 years- Making Gold

So as with my other posts, I am newly back to the game after 6 years as a level 80 Nihilist (splitting this post off from the other so it doesn't get muddled with a ton of different issues). When I got into the game I saw I had a pretty darn good amount of gold, but at the same time the gold that enemies drop seems to be very small. I have no immediate money issues, but with how much gold is there it makes me think that there must be both big expenses and better ways of getting gold than what I've been doing. So I was wondering what tips/system descriptions (its pretty hard to find descriptions of how the various economic parts of Lusternia work) others had of how gold is made/spent.
