This is an ancient log. So old that I barely remember typing any of it. But it was one of the most intense experiences of my gaming life and illustrates why I am so gaga for Gadritan. It contains some sparknotes on Daraius's backstory, but hopefully the focus is what a powerful character Gadritan is. As always, edited for your reading pleasure so you don't have to pretend you're me.
By way of setup, I'd just received a tell along the lines of "We need to talk." Somebody (never found out who, but I think... Lawliet was implicated?) had spilled the beans to Gadritan that Daraius was planning to leave Celest.
~ Part One, in which Daraius makes a Confession ~
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Talk to me, Daraius."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Not as your Prince, as your Packmate."
Gadritan's mouth turns up as his face breaks into a smile.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "What's going on?"
Gadritan tilts his head curiously.
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Should have sat down with you sooner, just been so busy."
Daraius says, "I understand."
Gadritan tilts his head and listens intently.
Daraius murmurs, "Where to begin."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Where you wish."
Gadritan wrinkles his nose and sniffs.
Daraius says, "I intended to tell you this sooner or later. I wish it wasn't under these circumstances."
Daraius says, "You should know that unless your informant had the name of Skyplume or Shavatt, they were most likely not acting out of care for me."
Gadritan shakes his head.
Daraius says, "But that doesn't matter."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Not an informant, I'm not spying on you."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "It was someone concerned."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Your pack loves you, Daraius."
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.
Daraius says, "Well then. My confession."
Gadritan tilts his head and listens intently.
Avoiding eye contact, Daraius says, "I have lived longer than most people my age. You know already that I came to Celest from Hallifax, but I have not told many people here that I lived there for thirteen years after stepping out of the portal of fate."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Go on."
Gadritan wrinkles his nose and sniffs.
Daraius says, "I was an instructor in the aeromancers, and an aide to the Ministry of Culture. I was adopted by the Shavatt family because they considered me a proper Hallifaxian."
Showing that he understands, Gadritan nods his head slowly.
Daraius says, "But I had lost twenty-three years to the portal of fate. Everybody wonders where they came from, right? And how they got to be the way they are?"
Daraius says, "I did, and I got the wild idea that if I could re-live some of the years that were taken by the portal, I might remember things I had forgotten about myself."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "If you're not fortunate enough to know..yes."
Daraius nods his head slowly in understanding.
Daraius says, "You know about the aeonicists of Hallifax?"
Daraius hastily brushes down his fur.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Hrm.."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Not a damn clue."
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "I've been mad at my home, certainly, but I've never wanted another home."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Didn't..really do any research on the outside beyond what I need to proselytize to them."
Daraius says, "The sentinels and researchers of Hallifax have some control over time. They are able to manipulate individual timestreams, peek into the future, and so on."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Ah, that stuff."
Daraius says, "I had one of them adjust my age to make me younger by twenty years. I became sixteen."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Yes, and they've caused paradoxes that were extremely dangerous."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Some things, shouldn't be played with."
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.
Daraius glances askance.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "I'm..an old man. I've seen a lot..and sure, I look back and could have done things diffrent..but I know better than to try."
Daraius says, "I was not an old man, and the best scientists of Hallifax assured me both that I wasn't mad for considering the procedure, and that there were no known side effects."
Daraius says, "So I didn't know better. In fact, it seemed the best option."
Daraius says, "I expected just to live my life in Hallifax in a nice young body, and all my memories of youth would come flooding back."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "I'm not judging you, pup."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "I simply don't trust..playing with time."
Gadritan wrinkles his nose and sniffs.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Some things..are better left alone."
Looking downtrodden, Gadritan sadly shakes his head.
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.
The corners of Gadritan's mouth turn up as he grins mischievously.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says to Daraius, "Okay, that was foolish pup."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says to Daraius, "They can reverse the aging of your body, they never said they can turn back time itself across the entire basin."
Gadritan reaches over and ruffles your hair with a fond expression.
Daraius becomes suddenly rigid and his fur bristles in agitation.
Daraius says, "Yes, I know. I've had my hypotheses throroughly torn apart a few times already."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "Now now, lower your hackles."
Daraius hastily brushes down his fur.
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "There's no anger in my voice, there's no teeth showing in my snarl."
Prince Gadritan Sar'Alainn, Dove Chaplain says, "I'm not judging you, I am just giving you insight."
Daraius nods his head at Gadritan.

[B] It always interests me to see what the external perception of Halli/the Collective is. Particularly where the 'emotionless' and 'science is hollow' propaganda and stereotypes seep in.
