Announce Post #3060: Ascension of Parhelion

The first to hold the Staff of Ascension was Kalas Ixion of Magnagora, Champion of Chaos, and indeed for much of the Challenge it seemed that he would hold steady. Once or twice, his opponents - the cities of New Celest and Hallifax, and the forest commune of Glomdoring - succeeded in breaking the Staff from his grasp and earning a competing amount of points.

Determined to maintain his place, Ixion regained the Staff and stood well defended by his fellow citizens in Magnagora, along with the forest commune of Serenwilde and the city of Gaudiguch. He came within mere minutes of claiming the Staff fully, and all stood with bated breath as they waited to welcome in their new True Ascendant.

But Choros and his allies surged back in, with Ciaran of New Celest reclaiming the staff and passing it to Choros - who then held it, and held it, and held it. Soon he had equalled Ixion's time holding the Staff, and soon he surpassed it, until he was but moments away. Though Magnagora and their allies made attempts to reach him until the very end, they could not.

Thus was Choros able to hold onto the Staff just long enough to become a True Ascendant and recharge the seals, being reborn under the name of Parhelion.

All hail, Parhelion, the First True Ascendant of Justice!

Outside @Lantra's great question about hearing what players like about game lore for building purposes, I am wondering, in order to think about org roleplay: What is one thing that irks you about your org's lore? What is one thing that you love about it? This isn't a question about what you would change, by the way. Simply, I want to know what are the pressure points.

I'm done for a little while as well. Will probably end up popping in to check on various stuff or to influence for esteem but I really can't play this anymore if things are like this. What happened during ascension and the following rejection of people's frustration about it has left a really sour taste in my mouth.

I'm done with the whole topic, people know what to do if they want to fix it, and half decent people would just not play the class until it was fixed rather than abuse it, rather than flocking to do so.

I'm... taking an absence here. I'll be around here and there, but its probably for a good long time. Ascension was fun but highly demoralizing. I realized that things that are broken in terms of combat on each side (which as been my main focus outside of RP) most likely will never be fixed or balanced out. Between the server lag issues and a few other things, I won't discuss here... I'm just done.

Where do I begin. There is absolutely no way to name everyone who helped, because I couldn't have done this without all of you. The two plus hours we spent on Astral were the roughest two hours I've ever spent in Lusternia. The opposing team had us all over the place, and I dare say were better set-up than we were.

Super raves for Aramel and her coding, Ciaran/Snald/Xenthos/Kaizynne/Aknarin/Tarken for their advice on setup as well as equipment, Evette saved my life so many damn times I'm naming a child after her, people who loaned me items, people who showed up, people who didn't give up, and people who wanted to be there but couldn't.

Special raves for Terentia, Ixion (best frenemy), everyone on our discord voice chat who put up with me yelling as well as trying to keep my kids quiet.

Defining Features: Dragonfly wings, freckles, fingertips calloused from playing string instruments, antlers with flowers blooming from them

Tattoos: The Wheel Gate (an important structure for the Sowers of the Last Seed) on her back

PERSONALITY

Strengths: I uh, had to think on this one to reassess what's still true! She's definitely optimistic, though. Determined, brave.

Weaknesses: Sometimes that bravery turns into naïveté or foolhardiness. Still holds everyone to impossibly high standards!

Attitude: Enthusiastic, easygoing with a layer of intensity beneath

Morals: Teach everyone a better way to live - befriend them and encourage them to change their homes from within for the better ("the better" being razing the cities down to make room for nature and healing the taint/wyrd of course).

Pet Peeves: Sonnets that don't properly follow any sonnet form, haikus that mess up their syllable counts.

Best way to piss her off: Be utterly unrepentant for Shashi's murder. I suppose lack of repentance would apply to other crimes against loved ones as well.

Best way to get on her good side: Participate in Culture - show off your paintings, writings, or stage productions, even if you're not in her org. Culture is her love language.

Best personal achievement: Guiding others in opening their hearts to her Goddess

Worst personal achievement: Getting Gurashi in trouble with Nocht >.> She also feels like she may have unintentionally played a part in driving Esei to Nocht, too, regardless of the facts

Proudest moment: Not dying in Glomdoring during their Solstice Festival! Her heart still got PK'd but she left alive! There are a lot of proud moments, but that stands out in my memory right now.

If she could make one wish: What are the rules of the wish-magic? If she can wish without negative consequence, she'd wish for the Wyrd and all its Spirits, people, and Gods to be healed, but I don't trust any of our admin to let that happen without it backfiring (<3)

Why you should hate her: You shouldn't! She's an absolute angel and you are probably too tainted or wyrden and not right in the head if you do.

Why you should love her: It might take longer for some people than others, but she can see the good in you.

Why you should fear her: She will air your dirty laundry on stage, in rhyming verse.

Why she is harmless: I mean. *gestures vaguely at her*

If she ruled the world, you'd best expect: The Sowers' collective dream to come true - all the world healed and in perfect balance and harmony.
