    STARHYMN - COMPOSITION

    Syntax: COMPOSE NEW <song>

            SONGSTAT, SONGSTATUS

    As your ability in your song specialization increases, you will be able
    to compose new songs. You can write your own song and set it in
    stanzas. Each song can consist of up to 9 stanzas, and certain powers
    can also be invested in each stanza. Powers are divided into 3 types:
    Low (L), Medium (M) and High (H). Low types can only invested in stanzas
    1-3, medium in stanzas 4-6 and high in stanzas 7-9. Low stanzas
    generally have simple effects, medium stanzas have stronger effects, and
    high stanzas have very strong effects. Some song powers
    need to be targetted and others will create a passive effect that stays
    around you. As a general rule, you will not be able to stack passive
    effects.

    When playing a custom song, it always begins in stanza 1, each time you
    play the song, it progresses to the next stanza until the song ends or
    you change to another song or a certain amount of time elapses,
    whichever comes first. Note that before the time elapses, you can take
    other actions so long as you continue your performance before the time
    elapses.

    Syntax: SUSTAIN

    This ability will allow you to slow the music you are playing to
    imperceptible levels, effectively freezing the music in place.

    Stanza:     Low (1-3)
    Targetable: No
    The processional is an inspiring introduction to any hymn. When you and
    your allies hear this sound, your willpower and endurance will
    regenerate faster. Your health and mana will regenerate slightly as
    well.

    STARHYMN - LOVECANTICLE

    Stanza:     Low (1-3)
    Targetable: No
    Buff:       Potion Recovery Bonus, Level 1
    By weaving the sound of Raziela's voice, you and your allies will find that you recover potion balance from health, mana and bromides potion faster than normal. Note that this buff is constant so long as your allies are in the same room as the music plays.

    STARHYMN - DISCORDANTCHORD

    Syntax: PLAY DISCORDANTCHORD <target>
    Power: 3
    Damage Type: 100% Magic
    The discordant chord is tuned to especially harm those ears which are already suffering the tonal ailments of a musician, doing greater damage the greater the level of auditory afflictions the victim has. The victim will also suffer grievous mana and ego loss. Note that hearing the discordant chord will remove all auditory afflictions. If you have an octave active in the room, its magical ability will also increase the damage of your chord for no extra power cost.

    The beauty of Shakiniel's voice can be imbued into your hymns, which offers protection to you and your allies. The protection extends to most forms of elemental damage, including fire, cold, electricity, and poison. Note that this buff is constant so long as your allies are in the same room as the music plays.

    Affliction: Auric, Level 1/Max 3
    The sound of the stars has a disturbing effect on your enemies. When they hear it, their auras will weaken.

    Syntax: PERFORM REFRAIN <song> [<target>]
    Instead of moving forward in the stanzas of a song, you can repeat the last stanza you performed as a refrain. You can refrain as many times as you desire.

    Power:  1 (any)

    By reprising your melodies and harmonies, you can take your song back
    one stanza.

    Syntax: PLAY STARCHORD <target>
    Damage Type: 50% Divinus, 50% Fire
    This chord is similar to minor second, except it vibrates to the martial energies of Celestia, calling forth Holy Fire.

    Stanza:     Low (1-3)
    Targetable: No
    Affliction: Potion Recovery Malus, Level 1
    Japhiel shows mercy upon you, and when your enemies hear the sound of his voice, they will find that they recover potion balance from health, mana and bromides potion slower than normal. Note that this malus is constant.

    Syntax:     STARSONG CALL CRUSADERCANTO ON <target>

    Stanza:     Mid (4-6)
    Targetable: No

    Upon a crusade against the evil, Methrenton will lend you his voice, and
    when you hear it the holy flames of Holy Celestia will surround you,
    growing from orange to white over time. When you are ready to punish
    your enemy, simply call the crusdader canto down upon them.

    STARHYMN - LIGHTCANTATA

    Stanza:     Mid (4-6)
    Targetable: No
    Affliction: Ocular, Level 1/Max 4
    When the light of Elohora is woven into your music, an angelic choir will join your hymn. Those enemies who hear the sound of the choir will receive ocular afflictions (1/4) and bow before the might of the light.

    STARHYMN - CAPTIVEAUDIENCE

    Syntax: CAPTIVATE AUDIENCE
    This will effect all allies and enemies in the room who can hear and are
    not already captivated by a bard. Those who are captivated will only pay
    attention to your songs and thus will only be affected (either
    negatively or positively) by your song effects. Blanknote or Blankchord
    will break the captivation.

    Targetable: No
    This rousing music will inspire the citizens of New Celest to greater heights, causing the damage they do to be increased. This powerful sound was inspired by the lyrics of "Ode to New Celest" by Raflein, the first guildmaster and founder of the guild.

    Sing this song and you will summon an angel to guard you from harm, giving damage resistance 3/3 to all damage types for a short period of time. However, your song will turn back by one stanza.

    Before Princess Marilynth, the last Vernal Goddess, sacrificed herself to save Celestia and the elemental plane of water from the Taint, she sang one bittersweet note in farewell. That note can be captured in your hymn and those who hear it may be caught up in that longlost memory.

    By playing an encore performance, you will speed quickly through your
    song at a faster tempo - your recovery of equilibrium when playing songs
    will be halved.

    Stanza:     High (7-9)
    Targetable: No
    Affliction: No Eating/Drinking
    When your enemies hear the recessional, which is the winding down of the hymn, they will be loathe to disturb it by eating and drinking, and there will be a chance that they find themselves unable to do either.

    Affliction: No Shields (in water locations)
    When your music is heard by the oceans and rivers, they become infused with the power of the stars. Any enemies who hear this music will find the waters prevent them from raising magical protections.

    Sing this song and you will summon an angelic host who will carry the
    soul of a fallen comrade back into life. The power of this effect is
    such that your song will immediately end.

    Targetable: Yes
    Power:      3 (Pool of Stars)
    By singing the requiem for the dead in honour of an enemy, you will be joined by an angelic choir who will lead that enemy unto death if he or she is still living. Once you start the killing note, you can do nothing that will disrupt the song.

    PrincessFarewell received a pretty big nerf. I'm not sure how long the stun is, but its probably not worth 3 power.

  • I haven't taken a look myself, but I think the stun is worth quite a lot, when coupled with the nerves aff (passive blackout) and the Recessional (eating block). And these two are passives. Adding smart usage of tarot, the PrincessFarewell can probably charge the aura aff to aeon level rather quickly. Alternatively, illusions isn't out yet, but there's a passive ocular aff in here as well, which can add to the herb stack. When fighting a Cantor, you're pretty much guarantee'd to be permanently vapoured, because you'll have to prioritze the aura and auditory afflictions. A stun and aura level spike is fairly potent in that situation, considering that jinx is a aura level 3.

    Additionally, the "aura" afflictions are listed in these abs as the "auric" afflictions. Might want to change it back to aura for consistency, since it's listed as aura in the new tarot abs, and also listed as aura in the helpfile.

  • I think we need to see how Glamours and such work before we can really say. PrincessFarewell is nerfed, but it seems fairly fast, so the old 'crusader canto/princess farewell' into DCC seems viable still, particularly if you prep with a use of an aeon tarot or two. No guarantee, but it's possible.

    We'll have to do a lot of testing, and I'm sure things will be fiddled with in time. It seems like a nice set of passives though. Will it kill? Dunno!

  • Well. It turns out the Glamours is REALLY REALLY GOOD for Starhymn. Your song is absolutely going to be:
    1. StarLight

    3. HopesCarol or LoveCanticle
    4. LightCantata
    5. CelestOde
    6. CrusaderCanto
    7. JustChorale
    8. Recessional
    9. PrincessFarewell

    Your song and passives are doing Auric 1/3, Nerves 1/4, Phobia 2/5, Ocular 1/4 + 2/2 + 50% 1/5, Delusions 2/4 + 50% 1/5 and you have actives that do Ocular 2/5, Delusions 2/5, Universal Damage Malus 1/3 and Auric 2/4 + Stun.

    It is entirely probable that you will get your opponent up to 3+ in Ocular, Delusions, Nerves, Auric and Phobia all at the same time without doing anything special. In aeon, all of those missed commands, balance losses, stuns and eating failures would be cripplng.

  • Your combat song and your hunting song aren't the same thing at all. For hunting, you want to swamp in Eversea, Processional and whichever of HopesCarol/LoveCanticle you didn't already have. In principle you could also do something with AngelSong, but in practice you never want to.
  • That really depends on how you do things. Personally, I have just a single song then I just have functions to track what is where and imbue as necessary. Less hassle :)
