Pft, that's nothing. We had someone on Air who shall remain unnamed. A certain, let's say 'less mighty' individual asked them to leave more than once and was ignored. The moment I pop up on Air and go after them to 'evict' them, they bolt for Faethorn. Caught up with them in the end, killed them, got our essence back, got then enemied to Halli, etcetera.

Person in question goes and tells Maellio that they didn't know why they were being asked to leave and didn't know they were in the wrong. (Then why were you running and why did you not ask the question of why to the person asking you to leave?)

Now that's what I call a moment to treasure and remember.

Oh, there's more.  Long story short, someone was mouthing off in a peaced room and made a bunch of comments on trade channel; then felt the need to bring it to the city nexus.

It's the usual routine.  Johnny Come Lately types who jump on the bandwagon snark, despite having never roleplayed or so much as spoke with Tetra.
What is the exact amount of RP/interaction time required before people are allowed express their opinions in your presence?
Are people who RP snark second class RP-ers?
Are people only allowed to discuss events that they personally witnessed?
Are popular opinions inherently wrong and or biased?

Your comments raise some interesting loaded questions.

Don't forget that this person just barely (a few days back) made a post saying, "I saw *person* canoodling in a manse with *another person they haven't even met*", so that kind of nullifies your questions 1 and 3.  Possibly even 2.

Unfortunately, if one goes around trying to make drama, they tend to have a way of attracting even more.  I just try to stay out of it.

I feel like I'm missing something after reading the most recent tweets.

PS.  What does it matter if a Seren gets enemied to Glom? It'll happen eventually and its not like it matters that much (except for the purposes of sneaking around). Its kind of silly to make a thing about on the forums.  Assuming I'm understanding one of the lines going on here at least.

Because Zouvi's pretty epic and one day we'll steal her to marry off a Kio and Thul spawn when they finally find a Tae'dae to claim as their own.

    Her being enemied complicates matters.

  • What was even funnier about it was the fact that Sidonie and Meshora have never spoken, but she starts going on in tells afterwards about how she's so disappointed and she thought better of Sid. They have literally never spoken before. I had a pretty hard time stopping the gigglefit.

Mork's story is a joke.  Hopefully a joke that will be true one day, but still a joke.

The real story is that Zouviqil would never, ever lift a finger to harm the Glomdoring, and Kio knows this.  They're friends.  Kio wants to make sure Zouviqil's name doesn't get dragged in the dirt.

    Xenthos gambling...

See I wouldn't have ever seen it coming, but after seeing Xenthos' mind at CAH, I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the night, he's won a fortune on Blackjack, spent it on alcohol, and Shuyin has to be responsible and RL Empress him out to his hotel room.

I am indeed having fun. I spent exactly zero dollars in the many casinos and shops visited- one does not need to gamble to enjoy oneself. I got to turn down all sorts of propositions to empty my bank accounts!

Though I did splurge $12 on lunch and got some dude a free soda. /rebel

    --------

Okay, wait, I did spend $17.50 on a bottle of sun screen, because prices here are pretty silly.

Nobody needs permission to express their opinions.  Just be sensible about what your character knows/doesn't know.  For example, if something happens before your step out of the Portal - are you going to act like you know every detail of the event?

Following popular opinion without first-hand interaction just demonstrates a mob mentality at best. There's nothing right or wrong in it,but it makes you seem gullible!

@Xenthos It's one thing to make a post in the forum regarding a scry, another to talk about it IC. The forum isn't for roleplay.  Whether or not Kio remembers, he has met Rika. I stood in the same room and watched them have a conversation.  Not sure what point you are trying to make.

As for drama starting, Meshora literally walked up to Haiden and I in the middle of a conversation - started talking smack to both of us and then brought it to the Pool.

  • Tetra, Kio probably met Rika while he was a young newbie in Serenwilde back in 2008.

However, saying that he has "canoodled" with -anyone-, let alone someone he barely knows, is highly offensive not only on an IC level, but an OOC one.

I assure you that Kio has never had any sort of important 1-on-1 interaction with Rika, ever.  While the forums are to be held on an OOC level, you need to be really careful with your phrasing of things.  The term "canoodling," on my end, screams of things which are less-than-PG-13-friendly, and I, for one, do not appreciate it.

Canoodling is very PG-13!  If your feelings are hurt, then I apologize.  Really not worth getting worked up over though.

It would be different if I said, "raunchy bacchanal" or "libidinous revelry".

  • I suspect that you are just expressing yourself poorly so I'll back off a little. However....

Gaining knowledge of things that happened before you stepped out the portal is crucial to your survival.

First hand interaction simply cannot be a prerequisite for forming a sound opinion. Society would screech to a halt.

Gaining knowledge of history and the Basin is fine.  But being a newbie in a city/commune and then carrying over knowledge you wouldn't have is poor form.  It isn't even roleplay.

For example, if I rolled a new character and started talking about the Illuminati's secrets.  Tetra knows that information, but would that newbie?  Of course not.

To be honest, I shouldn't have to even explain this.  It's common sense in any roleplaying scenario.  Whatever I say is complete and from full awareness. If you make assumptions and don't understand, it's that you were hearing but not listening.

It would be different if I said, "raunchy bacchanal" or "libidinous revelry".
What you consider "worth getting worked up over" and what I consider "worth getting worked up over" are two completely different things.  I've put a lot of time and effort into crafting Kio to be exactly the man-bear I want him to be and, while most of probably wish it wasn't the case, what you say on the forums can, and does, carry into the minds of the people interacting with him in game.

I've gone to the extent as to make sure any and all forum posts relating to Kio's particular RP paths are as vague as possible.  You saying you've seen him "canoodling" with -anyone- in a manse is simply disrespectful, especially considering the fact that I, as a player, on an OOC level, have no recollection of Kio ever even -meeting- Rika.

You might consider me getting my panties in a bunch.  I, however, consider your words harmful to the RP I've spent a lot of time and effort into crafting for my character.

On an OOC level (more akin to the forums), I'm sure I'm not the only person who reads the word "canoodling" as "mudsex," and frankly, I do not appreciate any sort of the slightest hint at something like that ever happening with my character.  Keep in mind that when you're dealing with a community as diverse as ours, the jargon you use is going to be taken differently by each and every person.

I'll give you an example.  The reason I'm so offended by this is because I've heard the word "canoodling" used in one context.  I was enrolled in a summer camp and the counselors used the term as a polite way of referring to sex.  Unless it has a definition listed in an academically accepted dictionary, don't assume we're all going to take the term to mean the same thing.

Edit: Also, here's a little social lesson for you.  If you need to start an apology with "If [insert whatever you might be thinking/feeling/reacting the way I didn't want you to] then I'm sorry" isn't a sincere apology.  Saying, "I'm sorry because I was wrong," however, is.
  • It's a game.  It isn't real.  You cannot disrespect Kio because he doesn't exist.

Plenty of people spend months and years carefully crafting their character's stories and roleplay, all for it to be changed drastically at the drop of a hat.  You consider it harmful because you do not trust the playerbase to keep that information separate.  Is that why you lie in saying "I have never met Rika" when I clearly watched you talk to her?   Player in Lusternia often take themselves way too seriously. If you are offended by such a comment, then you are getting your own lines crossed.

  • Yea. "Fondling" isn't something Kio wouldn't ever do.

How do you know Kio has met Rika? Because frankly, until I HONOURS'd you, I thought you were a newbie because I haven't even heard your name before.
