I'm not totally happy with it either, but as long as @Lisaera, @Everiine and @Turnus are involved, I have faith it will turn out okay, at least as far as my guild goes.
I guess the rest of us are chopped liver. :(
Not at all. Trees aren't made of liver. Now, driftwood, perhaps...

I just hope I can come up with reasonable ideas to contribute. While the basic premise is very simple, it's surprisingly difficult to come up with themes that don't pigeon-hole too much.

EDIT: I swear I can still spell.

@Hoaracle not chopped liver in your case. More like chopped wrists.

No, that's not what I meant. Let me take that back and sorry for the poorly expressed statement. What I mean is, I think everyone involved really cares about our lore and understands what it means to us. So as far as my guild goes, I have faith that whatever comes of the overhaul, it will try to maintain what we love about our guild and its place in Serenwilde.
  • I'm super excited for the idea of the overhaul. I think we have a real chance to help redefine orgs and shape the roleplay from the start. The biggest challenge is going to be setting down things to start with, because the biggest problem the newer guilds have is a lack of lore and defined roleplay. So I'm totally into the idea of seeing how that gets shaped!

I am experiencing a wistful sort of limbo, as I am disconnected from the org that I know best and have the most ideas for, and the one I'm in I am highly underqualified for. Alas.

  • Not your fault.

When you're in a situation that's supposed to be a learning experience, there's no reason to have avatar Wrath up. There's nothing to be learned from that. I'm disappointed and angry.

Regarding the flap about Tylwyth making threads, perhaps it was a bit premature on the admin side to toss forum categories up there if they're not meant for use yet. See category for something you have an interest in, make thread. Is understandable on his part.

That's my fault. I didn't mind the discussion. I just thought consolidation would be better, and I wasn't aware we were making subforums. Apologies to @Twylwyth!

    Here's the design:

    Appearance:
a tapestry of primeval woodland harmony
    Dropped:
A large tapestry hangs here, its radiant colours and artful design depicting a  scene of primeval woodland harmony.
    Examined:
A dream of pristine earthly beauty has been realized in the lush, verdant hues of an ancient forest. Mossy greens and sunlit yellows have been woven into a pattern of velvety leaves in a variety of shapes that provide a soothing backdrop for the weaver's vision. In the centre of the tapestry, bound within an intricate circular frame of looping, stylised gold vines, two immense trees stand tall and proud: one luminous and pale as the moon, the other dark and penumbrous as a raven's wing. The branches that stretch upward from their mighty trunks are inextricably intertwined, and even the gnarled roots that appear here and there between rugged grey stones and clumps of bright wildflowers seem to reach longingly across the span of earth that separates them. Tiny faelings cavort among the leaves as a majestic ivory hart gazes on, while a large, blue-eyed raven perches in state upon the massive crown of his companion's golden antlers. A brilliant azure sky in the background is dotted with pinpoints of white and silver, and though a tenebrous haze looms in the distance, a murky morass of ominous blacks and greys, for this brief moment captured in lustrous silken thread all is in perfect balance.

That was a beauty winner? Are you sure? It's well written, and it doesn't take up a page and a half.

(snark aside it really is a nice design, and makes me sad that I will never be able to get food to place in Beauty.)
  • I'm pretty sure there was at least one cake that won Beauty. Planar-themed something, from way back?
    See you in Sapience.

    My problem is that I'm terrible at describing tastes. I rely way too much on base descriptors like 'savory', 'sweet', or 'sour'. My (the player) palate is not refined enough to know what some things are supposed to taste like to describe them. ^^;

I believe there was also a platter in the layout of the Basin that won, or was at least a runner-up some time ago.

    Tonight amidst the mountaintops
    And endless starless night

Arte did a spire platter of some sort that placed in... 2009? 2010? I forget which but it was definitely a food design.

  • I remember quivering spires of Hallifax. Scale model done in tapioca. Also, there's enough food porn in the real world to research. Google or YouTube some cooking stuff, and crib some vocabulary.
  • Meh, I dont see why we needed 6 sub-forums about each org, would have been less cluttering to just make 1 sub-forum with 6 threads in it. I doubt each forum is going to have more than 1 thread in it discussing the new guild concepts anyway.

As long as you don't verge into wine territory of "with hints of the shavings of rosewood pencils" or "grassy, but buttery" bullshit.

It's super fun to try to identify and describe exactly what it is you're tasting as you get progressively drunker. I think my best is describing what has been touted as the best pinot noir grown in my region as having "undertones of uh, you know, oh! Coconut Shrimp!"

The best wine is the kind you like. The best way to enjoy wine is however you like.
