The eye of Dylara materialises in your hands and flings itself around your neck, tightening incomprehensibly until it is irremovable. Perfectly clean, this eyeball has been wrenched from the socket of Dylara. It has been animated by some unusual force, constantly looking around itself as if in shock or fear. It is bathed in a light covering of white flames that roll endlessly over its surface. A single chain of empyreal metal pierces either side of the eye, allowing it to be worn around the neck.
I don't quite know if this is a rave or not, but it's certainly something interesting: I'm like 95% sure that I saw a rather well known pornstar while at the grocery store today.
Today, I had my second violin lesson and now I even have a rented instrument. Playing the violin has always been a childhood dream of mine but my parents couldn't afford the lessons; let alone an instrument. That's also the reason why I chose the violin as Aerdureth's instrument when she was still a bard.
So here I am: slightly old but finally trying to make my dream come true. I know that I'll never be able to play as good as somebody who started at the age of five but I would be totally happy if I could just learn to play some simple tunes. Though right now, the only thing I have managed to do so far is scaring the cats xD
I sometimes make my characters do things that I wish I was able to accomplish RL. So the 'playing the violin' part can be checked of the list now Next up is: 'how to become more self-confident and talk to people like Aerdureth would'
I nearly got run over almost a week ago by a lady who ran a red light, and sprained my ankle. Today's the first day I can put my weight on it without sending shocks up my leg, which means I can do things I normally do like mow the lawn and run up and down the stairs as necessary for cleaning.

@Aerdureth - don't discount yourself just because you learned later in life! The key to any skill is putting time and effort in. The fact you decided to learn violin and worked to make it possible for yourself means you're going into this with more willpower, I bet, than a five year old whose parents nudged them into taking lessons.

My current goal is to be able to play a simple Christmas carol until said season because then I will have to take the violin to my parents in order to practice. So far, I have not told them that I decided to learn playing because they would say that I'm wasting my money and my mother is always telling me that I am tone-deaf anyway. So I will do my best to prove her wrong.
I'm in much the same boat. Took lessons for a brief while, but I've been mostly self-taught on the violin - probably the single most difficult instrument to develop skill with.
If you manage to take the violin past the strangled cat stage, that says volumes about your innate musical ability. Or at least your persistence.
Fair warning, achieving not-horrible takes most people a good year or two.

After much back and forth, an only 5 minute meeting, a 3 minute presentation and a topic confused, I've finally registered my Master's thesis today. Now, I've got six months to write it.
Luckily, I have a cool advisor and nice colleagues who swapped my mate stash for a crate of beer because they were drunk last night.

Two students stayed after class to tell me my class was their favorite this semester and the moment they left I did the goofiest little victory dance. Considering my class is required of all freshmen and most people come in kicking and screaming ("oh no, we have to write") it's always really validating to hear people appreciate what I'm doing.

So other than moving across country when your whole life can't fit into the Nissan Sentra like it used to, plans are coming together nicely. My old roommate in Virginia moved back to Texas a year ago and his lease is up, we were great roommates and drinking buddies and have decided to move in together again. This time in Dallas.
Because housing in Dallas is SO MUCH CHEAPER than DC, I'll be living in an even nicer high-rise, and for $300 less than I pay now. PLUS no state taxes.
I asked my violin teacher if I could just have a lesson every two weeks instead of every week. When she asked for the reason, I told her that I am a college student with a part-time job, from which she concluded correctly that it was not because I don't have time but rather because of the money. So she offered that I could only pay for two lessons per month and teach her computer stuff and manage her homepage in exchange. Now I can practice to my heart's content and do computer related things, which is both awesome
This medication is actually going really well so far. I've put on a couple pounds but I really don't care, I was borderline skeletal anyway. I haven't wanted to die in weeks, that's what matters. I hope this keeps up. It'd be such a relief to finally find the right fit. If I don't have to expend all my energy on trying to keep myself from falling apart, maybe I'll be able to get my life on track.
Finally was able to sell a product I've been warehousing, and all in one sale. Much hype. Also, if you wanna be fancy pm me for new product I've being assigned!

I actually spent time with a human being outside of interacting with them at work or in passing at the library. We played cards and got drunk at their place and it was pretty nice. I don't think I've actually hung out with anyone since secondary school. Hooray for not being as much of a hermit.
Apparently I hover below 1600 calories in per day. Who knew?
Hokay. Yeah. I was trying to break it today and unless I'm seriously misjudging the weights of my lunch and dinner, I finished at 1639 calories for today.
As long as I don't do one of those delicious cheesy breads from Dominoes or a breadbowl soup from Panera I'm going to be hard pressed to go over 1700, which is the personal limit I set. The fuck, metabolism?
