It's not actually that successful, a majority of people raised are raised off their track record. It's a more reliable method than listing a string of promises, and certainly better than the alternatives of a smear campaign undermining your potential opponents rather than focusing on selling yourself, or the "give it to me or I quit" ultimatum.

2014/07/28 21:28:12 - Thoros cityfavoured Munsia for: Her actions which bring Magnagora into greater heights of power are quite admirable. Her display in leading Ur'Hunts upon the astral plane and bringing in massive amounts of power, consistantly tormenting our enemies, going above and beyond in siezing control of domoth crowns, and even some of her personal time for the betterment of the Engine's novices is inspiring and encouraging. This favour is a personal token of my gratitude.
She may still have the grating attitude at times, but anyone who says Munsia hasn't changed or does nothing for Mag either doesn't play in Mag, or deliberately has their eyes shut. (If you'd asked me a year or two ago if I would ever defend Munsia, let alone support her in anything, I would have laughed in your face).
