As I see it, Bardics and Artisanals have to be considered OOC. Naturally, most of the stuff anybody writes for Lusternia is going to be informed by their character perspectives. But suppose someone's playing, I don't know, an illiterate character, or one with no artistic ability. That shouldn't completely lock the player out of the possibility of winning B&A credits (which are not bound, by the way, and can be shared among alts as far as I understand it).
The goal of the competition is to generate cool Lusternian fanfic and art. Requiring all entries to be considered IC for the character that submits them is unnecessarily restrictive.
So...if I send this in as Shaddus and it's softcore porn about Ixchilgal and Munsia, I'll get credits for it?
Technically yes, but your credits will be taken by the Oneiroi act as compensation for the poor judges who suffer mental trauma from reading your masterpiece.

Well, the main problem stems from the fact that we can't really rely that heavily on documentation in-game. If help files were right or complete most of the time, I doubt the question would even arise.
Lusternian help files are hands down the best, most correct, and most complete help files I've ever seen, in any context. The places they are out-and-out wrong are far and few between, and usually involve dated references to players, like 'limited artifacts'.

Yet there are so many undocumented features that can get you killed that it would probably take months to sift through absolutely everything that needs better and/or more information. And I'm not even talking about ABs... don't even get me started on those.

That's awesome, and totally within the scope of my interpretation of B&A's. Regardless of what the ruling on this issue is, Dar's going to give you a blank stare (even blanker than usual) if you mention any bardic or artisanal of mine (not that there are many) that hasn't appeared in-game in some form or another.

Wait, wait, I only asked to see if this ground was already well trod. Let me have a shot at it first. Already watching Double Indemnity and reading up on Raymond Chandler. O:-)

Am I going to be the vile murderess? I hate it how every time we have Force Commander in Vengeance, the person playing the role goes on a killing spree from day 0.

On the topic of the pronunciation of "Glomdoring"...
It's important to note, first of all, that there is no "right way" or "wrong way" to pronounce something, unless you are trying to conform to the givings of a standard language. Given that there is currently no standardized dictionary or pronunciation for fae words, this is not an issue.
In linguistics, syllables are broken down into the following (more complex for Asian languages) :
Onset (optional) - Consonant(s) before the nucleus
Nucleus - Vowel at the center of a syllable
Coda - Consonant(s) after the nucleus
Glomdoring has three vowels, leaving the splitting as possible to be such:
Glo-mdo-ring
Glo-mdor-ing
Glom-do-ring
Glom-dor-ing
Glomd-o-ring
Glomd-or-ing
Chances are, as English speakers, we would likely feel most comfortable breaking the word into the bolded syllabic structure. However, it should be noted that there are people who are native speakers of other languages that might find the others as more natural, such as a native Kiswahili speaker finding the first to be more natural.
Now, as for the issue of "glomdoring" or "glomd'ring", we come to the linguistic concept of elision. Elision is the dropping of one or more sounds when pronouncing a word, which can sometimes lead to the creation of a new word altogether.
"Family", for example, can be pronounced as "family" or "fam'ly". "Going to" can be pronounced as "going to" or "gonna".
In short, "glomdoring" and "glomd'ring" are both plausible pronunciations for the word, and if you're wondering how or why, read what I've written above.
Now if we could make this into a survey, with people saying how they break it into syllables with the cities they've lived in for 17+ years of their life, this could make a good little linguistic analysis.

Same here. Though if I were to really say it, it'd probably sound different again. There were times in calls when I did not realise that people were saying my character's name because it sounded totally different in my mind.
And I usually get funny looks from native speakers when I try to pronounce 'oven', because the German word is quite similar but stressed differently. So I always mix them up in my mind.
Everiine said: The reason population is low isn't because there are too many orgs. It's because so many facets of the game are outright broken and protected by those who benefit from it being that way. An overabundance of gimmicks (including game-breaking ones), artifacts that destroy any concept of balance, blatant pay-to-win features, and an obsession with convenience that makes few things actually worthwhile all contribute to the game's sad decline.
I have a tendency to pronounce words phoenetically in my head so I spell them correctly. Unfortunately, it means I tend to mispronounce things. A lot. You tell me Wyrd is like Weird, I'm still reading it as Word. >_>
