The Worm Web Serial by "Wildbow" is very good. (just search for the webserial, but click on the index page, as the title page contains the last chapter.)
LIke Harry Potter good.
But It's about 3 times longer than harry potter and was written in less than 2 years or so.
It's about a girl in a contemporary superhero setting who gets bug powers and sets off to be a superhero.
The author also wrote Pact(urban fantasy, sort of, ) and is writing Twig(biopunk).
Reading Oma & Bella -Das Kochbuch, a german and english jewish cookbook. I love the little illustrations. Also reading Children of the Sea manga and Wicked + Divine comics (if you like American Gods and rockstars, read this).

It's not a version of the play, exactly, but an issue from the Sandman series. To quote Wikipedia's synopsis, "It depicts the premiere of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, performed on the hills near Wilmington[4] before an audience of bizarre creatures from Faerie, including the very characters who appear in the play: Titania, Auberon, Peaseblossom, and Robin Goodfellow (PuckIt is wonderful, and for a long time (and possibly currently) was the only comic to have ever won a World Fantasy Award.
I do recommend it, along with the entire Sandman series, though it's been too long since I read it to know if it can work as a standalone or not. But even if it can be read standalone, the entire series is utterly phenomenal and should be required reading for everyone ever. >.>
Still slowly working on The Sending, by Isobelle Carmody. I oddly have most of my time sucked up by some random game lately, and I haven't had a chance to sit down and zip through a novel as rapidly as I normally do!

The Skin Map + House of Bones - first two parts of the Radiant Empire series, and not a bad little treasure hunting read. Some physics and a basic understanding of multiverse theory recommended.
On the Verge - A friend of a friend wrote this, and the cover was illustrated by Heather Bruton. First book in the Charmed Life series, and a rather enjoyable urban fantasy read. The author sites Jim Butcher in-story, and the influence is there to be seen. Plus the author is in love with food, so there are a few recipes you might be able to pick up. Just watch the first non-prologue chapter because it's a little slow.
Harmony Black - Dresden Files meets X-Files. If that doesn't sell you on this book and this series nothing will. Well, except maybe lesbian subtext, until it's supertext.
I have just finished 'Special Topics in Calamity Physics' by Marisha Pessl for the second time and still love it. It might be a bit difficult to adjust to at first because of the writing style (and I usually don't like first-person-narratives) but in my opinion it is totally worth the read. It's a good blend of coming-of-age, crime novel and family story.
I can also recommend 'Night Film' by the same author. It's slightly darker and has its share of WTF-moments but still a very good book. I think, I finished in on one day (well, and the following night) because I was so captivated.
Reading Player of Games by Iain M. Banks now, because the dudes on Stuff to Blow Your Mind speak highly of the Culture series. So far it's not gripping me.

Embassytown by China Mieville, which I'm super excited about because it seems to concern incomprehensible alien races and linguistics.
The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester, which I'm told by many sources is one of the essential sci-fi classics.
and Inverted World by Christopher Priest, which is said to have a magnificent twist. No spoilers please!
The author Alfred Bester is the namesake of the evil PsiCore character on Bab5.
Use of Weapons and Excession may be better, but avoid consider Phlebas from what I have heard.
And the Culture isn't for everyone.
Personally I have have been perusing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The entries are ok, but the real joy is the notes written in the margins by Ron and Harry(since the copy you get is one Harry bought).
A few years ago, I read DC Comic's Final Crisis (wait, it's been eight years? Why are you lying to me?) and basically was so disappointed I swore off comics forever. Everything I've heard about New 52 confirmed that was the right decision.
So naturally, when I hear about DC Rebirth, I can't help but be interested. I finally break down and snag a copy of Rebirth #1. And man, was I happy about it. Wally West is back! I knew he had been deposed as Flash back during Flash: Rebirth, but I didn't know he'd been written out of the timeline completely! And now he's back! And yay for... a bunch of other characters I don't know. Okay, so it's not a reboot, but a continuation of New 52. That's not thrilling. But hey, there's... Johnny Thunderbolt? And... maybe Saturn Girl? Um... Wait, Blue Beetle! Like, Ted Kord Blue Beetle! HE'S MY FAVORITE AND I NEVER FORGAVE DC FOR KILLING HIM IN INFINITE CRISIS. And he's teaming up with Jaime Reyes? I must read this.
Buuut, that's gonna have to wait a bit. In the mean time, a friend dropped off a crate filled with 125 issues of JLA (1997-2006). So, I will be busy catching up on some awesome Grant Morrison and/or Mark Waid Justice League. ~Ciao.

I made it about three quarters through this in a day and I'm going to go ahead and recommend it before getting to the end. I feel like Hallifaxians will be on board with the protagonist's matter-of-fact exposition. I'm really digging the whole premise and the steady drip of information about the setting.
Apparently I did not order The Stars My Destination, but A Fire Upon the Deep by Verner Vinge. This one features a race of mind-linking dog aliens and that's about all I know so far!
