Sometimes, I feel like @Shuyin and @Synkarin don't start fights or hop into territories they're enemied in looking to get kills, but just to get people to play with them... especially if they're going in alone against a group of like 5-6 people.

I'm honestly surprised more people don't see it this way. Lusternia is, at its base, a social game (in the sense that World of Warcraft is a social game, meant to be played with actual people, rather than the context of Farmville or whatever the Facebook FOTM is). If people wanted to play with themselves, they'd play Skyrim or what have you. RPers will find people to RP with, and nobody thinks negatively of it. Questers and explorers find people to talk to about that kind of stuff, that's common enough. Combatants, by this logic, would be looking for people to fight, because fighting is fun to them, and I'm sure that's a lot of what people in that group (Synkarin, Shuyin, Elanorwen, and a whole bunch of other people) will do, but it's really looked down on as griefing by a large portion of the community for some reason. And that's a bunch of bullshit.
People play games because it's fun for them, and Lusternia is a game. I get my fun in Lusternia with RP, politics, and writing. That is not any better or any worse than anybody else's idea of fun, and nobody should be looked down upon for enjoying a game as they enjoy it, especially when it is well within the intended parameters of the game design.
And on the topic of griefing, a lot of people have a weird idea of what it is. Killing somebody is not griefing outright. If you get attacked on Astral, it's because you are a part of the conflict somehow and landed yourself in a plane that was decidedly, since the game was released, meant to be a place where PvP had no consequences. Somebody raids your plane? If it wasn't meant to happen, there would be no positives for raiding or negatives for failing to defend. Griefing is going out of your way to make somebody's enjoyment of the game null. I'm not saying don't go to Astral if you don't want to get killed, but there's always that risk. (On a side note, I know a lot of combatants won't attack non-combatants unless they are given reason. Harassing a person, putting a bounty on their head or an ally's, or insulting a person especially using terms that would get me a forum warning is giving reason. Beyond that, if you're a non-com, most of the time your allies and even your enemies a lot of the time won't put up with people attacking you willy-nilly.)
This ended up being... a lot longer and far more ranty than I actually intended, and I simultaneously said a lot and almost nothing. But it's been building up for a while.
tl;dr: People play games to have fun. People play multiplayer games to have fun with other people. This includes combatants, and I do believe Selenity is right about Synkarin's and Shuyin's motivations in attacking people.
Well, I think you'll have to believe me when I say that I'm pretty sure I don't really need to get more kills at the moment. I have a...fair amount of them already.
Altrea has it right though. If you're not having fun, make your own fun.
...Which may include jumping groups of people if you can't find individuals to jump.

Shuyin needs someone to try to fight him and actually put up a good try at it without running away. If I had to guess.
*continues to theorycraft how to Spiritsinger by looking over spar logs so she may one day challenge Shuyin and not get tarot'd or greywhisper'd to death*
The secret to fighting Shuyin is not to fight Shuyin.

I guess I can add my input into this, as I was the one who started it. An invite went out over market for the ball, and being a Gaudiguchian, I thought, "What better RP than to crash a party? We aren't invited, but we are going to go anyway, because hey, party!" So then, not knowing if I would even be successful, I tried teleporting in, and it worked. I stood around, nearly silent, being perfectly peaceful (but knowing I would likely be attacked.)
I was attacked (which I expected), and killed (which I also expected.)
Do I think what I did was rude? Perhaps, but don't mention a party over public aethers that could be interpreted as an invite and expect me not to play along! I'm a Gaudiguchian and what better way to play one than to go to every party possible?
I am perfectly fine that I was attacked and killed, as I'm sure the other Gaudis who went are, and I'm sure we all expected it.
No need to cause a stink over everything, it is roleplay. I even thanked Xeria afterward!
That's all!
Edit: And I didn't even break any statues! So I was being particularly nice!
I'd think it amiss if Gaudi -didn't- crash the party.

Xeria was inclined to let you stay. She prefers attempting to win people over through food, drink and merriment. Especially firefolk. Alast! She underestimated the extent of hallifax hate of gaudiguchians, even younglings.

Also @Xeria wants to bite several people in the butt. She feels that they really need it.

Decided to be extra nice today! Reanimated (resurrected) a certain someone from a certain northern forest after she died (twice).
Immediately upon bringing her back to life, she says (referring to my eaf), "Put that thing away"
...Oh well! I did a good deed anyway!
I occasionally like to pretend that I'm replanting all of these herbs to attract bees, and might one day form an alliance with the bees and take over the Basin. Then we could have a wonderful tea party with plenty of honey and the best tea blends.
Viravain, Lady of the Thorns shouts, "And You would seize Me? Fool! I am the Glomdoring! I am the Wyrd, and beneath the cloak of Night, the shadows of the Silent stir!"
I wondered what the hell that stood for. Grats to you, sir.

There needs to be a thing that like, after 2 hours of revolt, all people standing in the village can vote to coinflip the village. Or majority wins. Or something. I'm still participating but I've seen people give up in less than an hour of trying.
I just hate revolts that drag on that long. I like it peaced because I'm a far better debater than I am fighter (and it's a lot easier to run from a losing debate than when you are dying), but yeah, no one wants to spend hours like that.
It's weird when people treat other people crappy, and do things like hire people to kill my citymates, or take quest materials and not be willing to play nice and share, and then act all audacious when I go out of my way to grief them.
But when you start comparing me to rape victims and victims of abuse, you're probably taking things a bit too far.

That's called sticking to your RP. I'd rather like that response..alongside a thank you ^^.
