Yeah, it's just a possible answer. It's not what I'm confidently claiming happened. I have no way of knowing what someone being blocked by the fortune would actually look like. I've still been thinking of it as a way to ensure a key user's success more than anything else.
I did confirm with Kira if I'd get a failed vision message if the vision doesn't reach the intended person, so....
Viravain, Lady of the Thorns shouts, "And You would seize Me? Fool! I am the Glomdoring! I am the Wyrd, and beneath the cloak of Night, the shadows of the Silent stir!"
Oh, and just so I don't forget, I got a vision of Shaddus tonight that mentioned two older brothers. The oldest is called Kennen, and is more concerned with appearances than the two younger brothers. The two younger brothers are more into pranks. The rest we already know.
It still doesn't confirm him being either town or scum, of course, so the information was generally without any real use.
Quoting this for relevancy. The vote can't be undone at this point. And it's not hard for Siam to have overlooked this post -- Luce did too, after all. Still, while it's not the most suspicious thing in the world, I do kind of wince and wish Siam had given any other reason before voting besides this.
Maybe worth blocking Siam tonight? But probably not more than Luce? Hm. Glad it's not my decision there.
@Azureus the whole point her is that if Ssaliss jailed himself last night, he wouldn't have gotten that info in the first place! He did say himself that he'll still be jailing himself throughout the night phases until the end of the game! Why would he suddenly decide to not jail himself(and ensure his survival) at a nightphase when we're so close to getting rid of all members of the mafia? Now, what a beautiful coincidence it is that he suddenly decides to not jail himself on a night phase where Saran suddenly dies? IS IT BECAUSE HE'S THE ONLY MAFIA MEMBER LEFT?

Or, y'know, you could be able to send visions through my protection... Have you sent me visions before?
Taking down Ssaliss without an army backing you down? Madness. But then, there is the saying that fortune favours the bold and prepared. Or in this case, those who don't let others prepare themselves. While Ssaliss is taking a nap, and thus is unable to defend himself, the rest decide that he has to be the last of Ermine's mafia, and Ssaliss wakes up to find himself surrounded on all sides. He tries to fight you all off, and it takes all of you to subdue him long enough to get in a good shot of the tranquilizer gun. Which isn't enough. It takes a total of three dosages to finally bring him down. You leave him in a diagnostic unit, and then start to rummage through his files to learn the following.
---
You're
Ricardo, one of the oldest chimaera of the group at twelve years.
You're the first “monster-type” chimaera where you still look
humanoid, you're decked out with monstrous features that make you
look like a wolfish manticore. You've spent most of your life as a
bodyguard, and after you fled your original owner, you've spent even
more time trying to stop what seems to be increasingly more stupid
humans from committing stupid crimes that risk the innocent. While
still empathic and well-meaning, you've become less than patient with
humans.
Your ability is Jailer. Once per night, you may choose a
target. You'll frighten away anyone who tries to approach them, but
you'll also frighten them into staying put.
You
win when all members of the mafia are eliminated.
---
And that should've been the end of that. However, shortly after you finish reading his files, the diagnostic unit starts to beep and alerts you to the results of a deep scan. It seems that subduing the young hero was the right thing to do after all, as a result of having been attacked by the mafia has left the kid in a severly mentally unbalanced state.
---
Hard
to say what hurts the most. The betrayals? The wounds? Or the simple
fact that they still underestimate you, that they think they can get
rid of you that easily. Well...if this is how they want to play it,
then let's play it this way. You'll show them all what happens when
they push you to your limits.
You
no longer win with town. You will only win when all chimaera are
eliminated, as well as the mafia. Alternatively, you win when there
are only two other people remaining. Furthermore, you've gained the
following additional powers.
Eliminate:
Eliminate any one other player.
Revenge:
Protect yourself, eliminating all who target you that night.
---
With Ricardo gone, a sense of unease falls on you all. It'll still be some time until people can begin trust each other.
But in time, they'll learn that they've been successful.
Town wins!
Role list and Night-action list coming.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
Deneb: You're
Deneb, the author who also dabbles in sorcery at the side. Though
here specifically your job is to teach rhetorics and etiquette to the
chimaeras before they're sent off to their new owners. You're also
responsible for the control collars that are used to keep dangerous
chimaera in check. You know how to activate them, and most
importantly, deactivate them. Your power is Firefighter. Once per
night, you may choose a target. If they've been primed with a control
collar, you'll remove it from their neck.
Boss: Arsonist.
You're the leader of the mafia. Unlike the other members of the
mafia, your night kill is to prime a target with a punishment collar.
At night, you may either use your unique ability, prime a target, or
knock out all primed targets. Priming and activating primed targets
counts as the mafia group attack. Should you be eliminated, mafia may
no longer prime targets, but can still activate already primed
targets.
Marie: You're
Marie, one of the teachers that work at the chimaera labs. You also
do the job of a psychiatrist, studying and evaluating the chimaeras
to ensure that they have been conditioned properly. All in all,
you've done a pretty good job, if you say so yourself. The only
reports of rogue chimaeras come from owners who think AI means that
they'll take an endless amount of abuse. Your ability is
Investigator. During nightphase, you may check your records on a
person to pull up their name and what they're good at, thus learning
their name and ability.
2nd: Janitor.
You're the second in command of the mafia. You use a syringe with
soporific to take out townies. If you do not kill and do not use your
unique ability, you may choose to hide either the target of the mafia
eliminations this night, or the lynch results of the next day.
Jinx: You're
Jinx, a monster-type chimaera. And true to your name, misfortune
follows you wherever you go. You used to be owned by a circus, but
when the fascination with chimaeras began to fade with the populace,
so too did your comfort living there. And it wasn't very comfortable
to begin with. You managed to escape, only to be caught a few months
later to be dragged back to the labs for reprogramming. But perhaps
here you can turn your misfortune around. Your ability is
lightningrod. Once per night, you may choose someone else. They will
be forced to target you that night. You can not use your power on the
same person twice.
3rd: 1-shot
strongman. You're the third in command of the mafia. One time, when
you're chosen to do the attack, you may ignore all roleblockers and
doctors.
Unused
4th: Ninja.
You're the fourth in command of the mafia. Whenever you're sent out
to do something at night, movement checking abilities will fail to
catch your actions.
---
Ricardo: You're
Ricardo, one of the oldest chimaera of the group at twelve years.
You're the first “monster-type” chimaera where you still look
humanoid, you're decked out with monstrous features that make you
look like a wolfish manticore. You've spent most of your life as a
bodyguard, and after you fled your original owner, you've spent even

humans from committing stupid crimes that risk the innocent. While
still empathic and well-meaning, you've become less than patient with
humans. Your ability is Jailer. Once per night, you may choose a
target. You'll frighten away anyone who tries to approach them, but
you'll also frighten them into staying put.
When nightkilled the
first time:
Hard to say
what hurts the most. The betrayals? The wounds? Or the simple fact
that they still underestimate you, that they think they can get rid
of you that easily. Well...if this is how they want to play it, then
let's play it this way. You'll show them all what happens when they

other people remaining. Furthermore, you've gained the following
additional powers.
Eliminate:
Eliminate any one other player.
Revenge:
Protect yourself, eliminating all who target you that night.
---
Pollux: You're
Pollux, oldest chimaera of the group, with the exception of your
“older sister” Ermine. The church of the true way had you made to
work as a devout of the church. Which mostly meant a lot of
indoctrination to get you to murder their enemies all in the name of
the lord. You no longer do that. Though you still retain some skills
from your time as an assassin. Most relevant here is your ability to
spiritwalk. Your ability is Oracle. Once per night, you may choose
two targets. The first target will be investigated to learn what
ability they have. However, you will not learn yourself what that
ability is. The second target will instead be the one who learns
that. You may not choose yourself as the second target, but you may
choose yourself as the first target. Furthermore, if you're knocked
out, you get to still talk to the other players. You do not get to
vote however.
Elena:
You're Elena. Linguist, diplomat and lawyer. Your job at the labs is
mostly focused on the clients, rather than the chimaera themselves.
You only really talk with them if you have to teach them languages
besides English. Honestly, you shouldn't even have been here in the
first place, if it weren't for the fact that you're best suited to
talk with Ermine. There's absolutely nothing you can't convince
anyone of, at least for a short while. Your ability is Governor.
During the day, once per day and per person, you may deliver a
stunning argument for their innocence, making them unlynchable for
the rest of the day. To use the ability type “prove the innocence
of (name)” in bold in the main chat.
Elizabeth: You're
Elizabeth. Once upon a time you were a olympic champion. Now you're
training the weird biological AIs that are Chimaeras in martial arts,
gymnastics and sports. You're also a passable bodyguard, which will
be good to have now. Your ability is Doctor. Once per night, you may
choose a target to protect from night kills.
Shu: You're
Shu. A young, pudgy, but quite friendly chimaera. You've got this
charm of innocence all around you, and you spend most of your time
playing games and trying to make friends. Would be a great thing, if
it weren't for the fact that you're a chimaera without an owner. Your
original owner ended up unable to come pick you up. You don't know
the reasons, but these days you spend most of your time playing games
and helping out in the labs. Your ability is Blocker. Once per night,
you may choose someone and drag them off to play games with you,
making them unable to do anything else that night.
Nick:
You're Nick. The youngest of the kitsune triplets. You're not an
actual kitsune. Just a chimaera made to look like one, but that
doesn't bother you. You and your older “brother” Luke came to the
labs for your annual checkup, and then you both ended up roped into
this mess. Oh well, nothing to do but stick together and maybe try to
get some incredible prank out of all this. Your ability is Mason. At
night, you may talk to your brother Luke (name).
Luke: You're
Luke. The middle of the kitsune triplets. Your owner wanted a
mythical, sleek and beautiful set of beast for his daughters. Your
older brother may be that, but you're anything but. A glutton, a bit
of a coward, quite the pranker, but ultimately well-meaning. And now
you're caught up in this mess with Nick. Ah well, may as well raid
the fridge and tell each other stories while the others resolve this
mess. Your ability is Mason. At night, you may talk to your brother
Nick (name).
Tora: You're
Tora, the giant tiger chimaera. You were originally created to help a
british university with their expeditions to the himalaya. During one
of these missions, you stumbled upon an old temple to Vaizravana, and
ever since you've been incredibly lucky, and you've even had that
luck rub off on others. Which is good, because despite your 13 feet
of height, there are still smaller chimaeras here who could kick your
ass. Your ability is Fortune. At night, you may make yourself or
anyone else immune to almost all night actions. You can only target a
different player once.
Yuuka: You're
Yuuka, a chimaera that looks like a humanoid rabbit. Five years old
and already an expert on biology. Sure, you were originally created
to be just another servant who'd happen to do some gardening, but you
quickly showed an exceptional ability to work with plants, trees and
flowers. Just too bad about your lack of tact and difficulty
understanding emotional appeals. Your ability is movement checker.
During nightphase, you can spread some pollen around someone, and
learn if they are visited, and or if they visit someone.
Daniel: You're
Daniel, a chimaera labs certified professor in basic training. Which
is a lot less glamorous than it sounds, since your job is
essentially that of a glorified babysitter that ensures the newly
made chimaeras survive their first month. The job involves long
nights of staring at computer screens for problems with their vitals,
and far more coffee than is healthy. Though right now, it's useful.
Your power is Energy. You're so hoped up on coffee that the first
time someone tries to poison you, you'll just shrug it off.
Alternatively, you can expend your hyped up energy to knock someone
out. You can do this during night or day phase. Your power, no matter
how it's used, is only good for one shot. If you use your knock out
during the day, write the command “Cofferush (name)” in bold.
Jeanne: You're
Jeanne. A six months old chimaera, and thus only halfway done with
your training before you're thrown out into the world. You really
shouldn't be here. You've got nothing to help out with. You're not
very smart, not ery strong, and right now you're not feeling very
brave. The only thing you've got going for you is that you can prove
that you've not had a chance to meet Ermine before now. Your power is
Confirmed innocence. Once in the game, you can post “Prove
innocence” in bold. When you do so, the game master will confirm
your innocence. This will also lend you some extra credibility, and
for the rest of that day, your vote counts double.
Lucius: You're
Lucius. The angel chimaera. Except rather than serve God, you'd have
served some cult after they lost their original chimaera. Then it
came to light that the cult had used the original chimaera for
assassinations, and you were left with no owner and no purpose. But
at least it explains why they had to train you for stealth. Your
power is tracker. Once per night you may stealthily follow after
someone and learn who they visit, but not what they do.
---
Unused
Alexander:
You're Alexander, a bodyguard that used to work for a rich american
business man until you discovered his ties with the Yakuza. You
gathered up proof on him and had him arrested. As a reward, you ended
up with no owner and had to be returned to the labs while people
determined what to do with you. You've trained in martial arts, and
you've even learned how to channel chi to enhance your skills. More
importantly, you can channel that chi into someone else. Your ability
is reviver. Once during the game, you may revive another chimaera.
Unfortunately, keeping all this energy within you interferes with
computers. Until you use your revival ability, the alignment of those
eliminated from the game will not be revealed.
After
releasing all that energy, it'll be quite a while until you can
replicate that feat. But have no fear. It's everyone else who should
fear you. You now have the vigilante ability. Once per night, you may
eliminate any other player of your choosing.

Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
And with that, the first mafia game is well and truly over, so first of all allow me to say "dibs on joining the next game".
Also, thank you all for playing, and I hope you had fun. If you're curious about something in the setup and about why and how I've decided to do some things, do let me know and I'll send you a PM with the answer, or just a whole lot of general information. I'm also available for general feedback and comments on the game itself. Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
Just so it's clear, even to those who only skimmed the night action list, Ssaliss did start out town in this game, and scum did target him on night 1, 2 and 3. The notification about a fight on Night 3 was to let town know that there had been a role conversion. Prior to that, Ssaliss was 100% town and did not know that he was gonna become a SKer upon his death.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
Now that the game is over and I don't have to worry too much about accidentally influencing decisions, I have to ask. Why did you choose to eliminate Saran during the last night, rather than do something like jailing Shaddus or Synkarin or even killing off either of them or Siam? It would make your decision so much stronger during the day.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
a) I honestly didn't think anyone would target me during that night, considering I had jailed myself every night before then.
b) I had to start killing people, or there'd have been absolutely no chance of me winning.
c) Power-wise, Siam was no threat to me (as evident by me not being revealed by him scanning me), and Synkarin seemed to be in my camp.
That meant I had a very limited amount of choices. Sylandra and Azureus were my main concerns, power-wise, and I thought it likely that Sylandra would be protected by Azureus. I had hoped that by killing Saran, people would jump at Azureus, thus netting me two kills, leaving me able to take care of Sylandra the next night (and hopefully pinning it on Shaddus) That'd leave me with Siam, Synkarin, Luce and myself, and odds are people would suspect Luce at that time, meaning I'd be able to take out Siam or Synkarin during the night, making me win.
Was it a long-shot? Heck yeah, but considering the scum didn't start killing until night five, well, I wasn't really in the best of shape to begin with.
Also, I honestly thought we had another mafia around as well, who might've helped things along. I didn't really think they'd start targetting me again.
With B, that's where I disagree with you. Due to how things were, Saran, Luce and Azureus seemed to have more suspicion put upon them. If you could keep the heat on them, you would've had a night to establish your jailer powers by jailing someone else. The nightkill will help you achieve your goal, that's true. But you'd gain far more by painting yourself more strongly as town.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
All the setting and flavor stuff really was fantastic. I can't praise that highly enough.
Thank you. And now that the game is over, I can explain that the reason why your fortune took the form of a jewelled mongoose. Vaiśravaṇa represents among other things fortune, and one of the symbols of that office is a jewel-spitting mongoose. The jewelled mongoose is the divine artifact that Tora found. A living representation of Vaisravana's generosity.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
I had been suspicious of Ssaliss from the start. :O Too many s's, you know! I actually thought the vision would've been blocked when I sent a vision of Ssaliss to Synkarin. So I clarified how the targetting/blocking worked out with Kira and decided to reverse the target order the following night.
Viravain, Lady of the Thorns shouts, "And You would seize Me? Fool! I am the Glomdoring! I am the Wyrd, and beneath the cloak of Night, the shadows of the Silent stir!"
That being said, good game! Now, let us become drag queens! @Celina
Viravain, Lady of the Thorns shouts, "And You would seize Me? Fool! I am the Glomdoring! I am the Wyrd, and beneath the cloak of Night, the shadows of the Silent stir!"
How mad must @Tarkenton be after targetting Ssaliss twice, and then using strongman to only have it fail once more and turn him into an SK.
Must have been a frustrating start.
Really good game though, Sylandra put together a fantastic argument at the end as to why Azureus wasn't guilty and it makes me feel a little better that I was on the right track with Ssaliss when the attack happened and he should have died but didn't.
And yeah, I felt really bad for scum when I saw that they were gonna use their one-shot strongman on Ssaliss. I'm sure the game would've turned out quite differently if scum hadn't been pounding their head against the Ssaliss-wall for three nights in a row. But then, I couldn't really tell them it was a bad idea either.
One thing I am surprised at though, is how nobody argued that on night 1, scum either would have had to perform a no-kill, or they must have targetted the jailed target. During the game, no one but scum knew that there was an arsonist about, and since Enyalida was scrubbed, that knowledge died with them. And since the doctor was proven town and explicitly said that they were roleblocked, and the rolestopper claimed that he hadn't protected anyone during night 1, Ssaliss was really the only solution left as to why scum couldn't kill night 1.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
I've been playing so much One Night that my long game has gotten really rusty.
Which makes me wonder if One Night can be adapted to forum play? Probably not, since the speed of One Night is the big draw.
One Night? What's that? Google only brings up a song and racist one-night stands.
One Night Ultimate Werewolf! It's a variant for a 10ish-minute game:
There are always two scum, regardless of the number of players.
The list of roles in the game is made public before they are dealt out.
There are always three more roles than there are players! Those leftover roles are dealt to the center of the table. So from the public list, there will be three who no one actually is -- including scum. So there might be two scum, or one, or none.
Since no one dies, all the powers are investigative, either directly or indirectly (switching people's roles without them knowing, and then seeing what they claim).
So then after a (usually timed) discussion, there's a final vote. Majority is lynched, and if there's a tie, all the tied victims are lynched together. If at least one scum is lynched, town wins. If only non-scum is lynched, scum wins -- so even if there wind up not actually being scum in the game because both are in the center, town can still lose if they can't figure that out and unanimously agree not to lynch anyone.
Here's a video. The video makes a lot of use of tokens, to speed along claims and accusations since One Night is usually played with a stopwatch. Like most Werewolf/Mafia variants, you can play it with slips of paper, but Bezier Games who designed the variant sell a box with the cards and tokens. I own that; the art is cute and it supports the person who designed the idea. But if you want to play with self-made role cards, the list should be floating around on Board Game Geek, and Bezier also has a free app (also shown in the linked video) that narrates, explains rules, and keeps a timer for you. So with the app, the game can be played in person even without a moderator, as long as there's some way of making cards that can include the three in the middle.
Think of Hallifax as less communism and more DMV city.

Omg! What a twist! What a shock! To think all this time I defended you, @Ssaliss! Sullying the name of the S-train. At least I can comfort myself in knowing you used to be town, haha.
This was really fun. Can't wait for the next game! And I have to say, I was really convinced it had to be @Luce in the end because the possibility of a serial killer didn't even enter my mind. Good play protecting yourself in the end.
I especially loved the end when everyone was considering all the possibilities about who could be scum and why. Mine made me feel like an adrenaline-junkie hustler. :>
"Oh yeah, you're a naughty mayor, aren't you? Misfile that Form MA631-D. Comptroller Shevat's got a nice gemstone disc for you, but yer gonna have to beg for it."
Huh. One Night sounds interesting, but not my kind of game. I love the long-game of Mafia. All the plotting and planning and subterfuge and arguments. I love it. The final day was fantastic.
And for what it's worth Sylandra, your logic was 100% valid. It just didn't account for the fact that there was a Vampire (really just a young kid with the AI equivalent of PTSD but who counts) in the game. I'm surprised no one considered third-parties, but then again. You never did get to see the mafia boss.

I thought Sidd was a third party the whole time with his aggressive actions to get people to role claim.

Full rolelist, including non-used roles.
Deneb: You're Deneb, the author who also dabbles in sorcery at the side. Though here specifically your job is to teach rhetorics and etiquette to the chimaeras before they're sent off to their new owners. You're also responsible for the control collars that are used to keep dangerous chimaera in check. You know how to activate them, and most importantly, deactivate them. Your power is Firefighter. Once per night, you may choose a target. If they've been primed with a control collar, you'll remove it from their neck.
Boss: Arsonist. You're the leader of the mafia. Unlike the other members of the mafia, your night kill is to prime a target with a punishment collar. At night, you may either use your unique ability, prime a target, or knock out all primed targets. Priming and activating primed targets counts as the mafia group attack. Should you be eliminated, mafia may no longer prime targets, but can still activate already primed targets.
Marie: You're Marie, one of the teachers that work at the chimaera labs. You also do the job of a psychiatrist, studying and evaluating the chimaeras to ensure that they have been conditioned properly. All in all, you've done a pretty good job, if you say so yourself. The only reports of rogue chimaeras come from owners who think AI means that they'll take an endless amount of abuse. Your ability is Investigator. During nightphase, you may check your records on a person to pull up their name and what they're good at, thus learning their name and ability.
2nd: Janitor. You're the second in command of the mafia. You use a syringe with soporific to take out townies. If you do not kill and do not use your unique ability, you may choose to hide either the target of the mafia eliminations this night, or the lynch results of the next day.
Jinx: You're Jinx, a monster-type chimaera. And true to your name, misfortune follows you wherever you go. You used to be owned by a circus, but when the fascination with chimaeras began to fade with the populace, so too did your comfort living there. And it wasn't very comfortable to begin with. You managed to escape, only to be caught a few months later to be dragged back to the labs for reprogramming. But perhaps here you can turn your misfortune around. Your ability is lightningrod. Once per night, you may choose someone else. They will be forced to target you that night. You can not use your power on the same person twice.
3rd: 1-shot strongman. You're the third in command of the mafia. One time, when you're chosen to do the attack, you may ignore all roleblockers and doctors.
Unused
4th: Ninja. You're the fourth in command of the mafia. Whenever you're sent out to do something at night, movement checking abilities will fail to catch your actions.
---
Ricardo: You're Ricardo, one of the oldest chimaera of the group at twelve years. You're the first “monster-type” chimaera where you still look humanoid, you're decked out with monstrous features that make you look like a wolfish manticore. You've spent most of your life as a bodyguard, and after you fled your original owner, you've spent even more time trying to stop what seems to be increasingly more stupid humans from committing stupid crimes that risk the innocent. While still empathic and well-meaning, you've become less than patient with humans. Your ability is Jailer. Once per night, you may choose a target. You'll frighten away anyone who tries to approach them, but you'll also frighten them into staying put.
When nightkilled the first time:
Hard to say what hurts the most. The betrayals? The wounds? Or the simple fact that they still underestimate you, that they think they can get rid of you that easily. Well...if this is how they want to play it, then let's play it this way. You'll show them all what happens when they push you to your limits.
You no longer win with town. You will only win when all chimaera are eliminated, as well as the mafia. Alternatively, you win when there are only two other people remaining. Furthermore, you've gained the following additional powers.
Eliminate: Eliminate any one other player.
Revenge: Protect yourself, eliminating all who target you that night.
---
Pollux: You're Pollux, oldest chimaera of the group, with the exception of your “older sister” Ermine. The church of the true way had you made to work as a devout of the church. Which mostly meant a lot of indoctrination to get you to murder their enemies all in the name of the lord. You no longer do that. Though you still retain some skills from your time as an assassin. Most relevant here is your ability to spiritwalk. Your ability is Oracle. Once per night, you may choose two targets. The first target will be investigated to learn what ability they have. However, you will not learn yourself what that ability is. The second target will instead be the one who learns that. You may not choose yourself as the second target, but you may choose yourself as the first target. Furthermore, if you're knocked out, you get to still talk to the other players. You do not get to vote however.Elena: You're Elena. Linguist, diplomat and lawyer. Your job at the labs is mostly focused on the clients, rather than the chimaera themselves. You only really talk with them if you have to teach them languages besides English. Honestly, you shouldn't even have been here in the first place, if it weren't for the fact that you're best suited to talk with Ermine. There's absolutely nothing you can't convince anyone of, at least for a short while. Your ability is Governor. During the day, once per day and per person, you may deliver a stunning argument for their innocence, making them unlynchable for the rest of the day. To use the ability type “prove the innocence of (name)” in bold in the main chat.
Elizabeth: You're Elizabeth. Once upon a time you were a olympic champion. Now you're training the weird biological AIs that are Chimaeras in martial arts, gymnastics and sports. You're also a passable bodyguard, which will be good to have now. Your ability is Doctor. Once per night, you may choose a target to protect from night kills.
Shu: You're Shu. A young, pudgy, but quite friendly chimaera. You've got this charm of innocence all around you, and you spend most of your time playing games and trying to make friends. Would be a great thing, if it weren't for the fact that you're a chimaera without an owner. Your original owner ended up unable to come pick you up. You don't know the reasons, but these days you spend most of your time playing games and helping out in the labs. Your ability is Blocker. Once per night, you may choose someone and drag them off to play games with you, making them unable to do anything else that night.
Nick: You're Nick. The youngest of the kitsune triplets. You're not an actual kitsune. Just a chimaera made to look like one, but that doesn't bother you. You and your older “brother” Luke came to the labs for your annual checkup, and then you both ended up roped into this mess. Oh well, nothing to do but stick together and maybe try to get some incredible prank out of all this. Your ability is Mason. At night, you may talk to your brother Luke (name).
Luke: You're Luke. The middle of the kitsune triplets. Your owner wanted a mythical, sleek and beautiful set of beast for his daughters. Your older brother may be that, but you're anything but. A glutton, a bit of a coward, quite the pranker, but ultimately well-meaning. And now you're caught up in this mess with Nick. Ah well, may as well raid the fridge and tell each other stories while the others resolve this mess. Your ability is Mason. At night, you may talk to your brother Nick (name).
Tora: You're Tora, the giant tiger chimaera. You were originally created to help a british university with their expeditions to the himalaya. During one of these missions, you stumbled upon an old temple to Vaizravana, and ever since you've been incredibly lucky, and you've even had that luck rub off on others. Which is good, because despite your 13 feet of height, there are still smaller chimaeras here who could kick your ass. Your ability is Fortune. At night, you may make yourself or anyone else immune to almost all night actions. You can only target a different player once.
Yuuka: You're Yuuka, a chimaera that looks like a humanoid rabbit. Five years old and already an expert on biology. Sure, you were originally created to be just another servant who'd happen to do some gardening, but you quickly showed an exceptional ability to work with plants, trees and flowers. Just too bad about your lack of tact and difficulty understanding emotional appeals. Your ability is movement checker. During nightphase, you can spread some pollen around someone, and learn if they are visited, and or if they visit someone.
Daniel: You're Daniel, a chimaera labs certified professor in basic training. Which is a lot less glamorous than it sounds, since your job is essentially that of a glorified babysitter that ensures the newly made chimaeras survive their first month. The job involves long nights of staring at computer screens for problems with their vitals, and far more coffee than is healthy. Though right now, it's useful. Your power is Energy. You're so hoped up on coffee that the first time someone tries to poison you, you'll just shrug it off. Alternatively, you can expend your hyped up energy to knock someone out. You can do this during night or day phase. Your power, no matter how it's used, is only good for one shot. If you use your knock out during the day, write the command “Cofferush (name)” in bold.
Jeanne: You're Jeanne. A six months old chimaera, and thus only halfway done with your training before you're thrown out into the world. You really shouldn't be here. You've got nothing to help out with. You're not very smart, not ery strong, and right now you're not feeling very brave. The only thing you've got going for you is that you can prove that you've not had a chance to meet Ermine before now. Your power is Confirmed innocence. Once in the game, you can post “Prove innocence” in bold. When you do so, the game master will confirm your innocence. This will also lend you some extra credibility, and for the rest of that day, your vote counts double.
Lucius: You're Lucius. The angel chimaera. Except rather than serve God, you'd have served some cult after they lost their original chimaera. Then it came to light that the cult had used the original chimaera for assassinations, and you were left with no owner and no purpose. But at least it explains why they had to train you for stealth. Your power is tracker. Once per night you may stealthily follow after someone and learn who they visit, but not what they do.
---
Unused
Alexander: You're Alexander, a bodyguard that used to work for a rich american business man until you discovered his ties with the Yakuza. You gathered up proof on him and had him arrested. As a reward, you ended up with no owner and had to be returned to the labs while people determined what to do with you. You've trained in martial arts, and you've even learned how to channel chi to enhance your skills. More importantly, you can channel that chi into someone else. Your ability is reviver. Once during the game, you may revive another chimaera. Unfortunately, keeping all this energy within you interferes with computers. Until you use your revival ability, the alignment of those eliminated from the game will not be revealed.
After releasing all that energy, it'll be quite a while until you can replicate that feat. But have no fear. It's everyone else who should fear you. You now have the vigilante ability. Once per night, you may eliminate any other player of your choosing.

Also, thank you all for playing, and I hope you had fun. If you're curious about something in the setup and about why and how I've decided to do some things, do let me know and I'll send you a PM with the answer, or just a whole lot of general information. I'm also available for general feedback and comments on the game itself. Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.
b) I had to start killing people, or there'd have been absolutely no chance of me winning.
c) Power-wise, Siam was no threat to me (as evident by me not being revealed by him scanning me), and Synkarin seemed to be in my camp.
Which makes me wonder if One Night can be adapted to forum play? Probably not, since the speed of One Night is the big draw.
