  • But evidence shows she wasn't lying.  Falmiis was a monster.  And to be honest, I would of never thought that one of us would be lying about it because there just so happened to be two angel messages that night.  Anyway, all I'm saying is that your "fact presenting" is noted.
  • Actually, all evidence shows is that she knew he was a monster. As I said, it's entirely possible she knew that because she herself is one, and that she threw him under the bus in order to look more town.
    image
  • You think a monster would go _that_ far?  I haven't followed previous games, so I'm unsure of whether this has happened before, but I kind of find it unlikely.

Considering that she got a letter from an angel the same night as me and she didn't even know I got one, I fully believe she received a message.  The fact it happened to be correct, makes it all the more believable.  It can't be a coincidence that she 'made it up' and it just so happens to be the same thing that happened to me?  But instead of giving information of someone of god alignment, she received information of someone of monster alignment.  So if anyone is suspicious, it would be me purely because I gave my information later.  But, I'm assuming that Vivet will believe me because she knows who she is and publicly vouching for her is a pretty big call, but based on the letter I'm happy to do it.
  • Also, I agree with you Ieptix.  I'm a bit suspicious of the Ssaliss/Krackenor thing too.

In my opinion you are far too fast to jump onto the conclusion of one. Which somehow reminds me of...lemmings. What makes you so sure that we can trust Vivet? As far as we know, there could still be two monsters running free. What if she is one of them, trying to shield her companion by making false accusations? If she wanted to claim, why does she choose to do so now, when Krackenor cannot use his power which is quite convenient?
So far, only Ssaliss is voting along with me, so there's hardly the appearance of lemmings charging directly into a situation. Most people just agree it seems believable because of how convoluted it is.

As is, Silvanus isn't a god/monster, Othero is a monster, and I'm not sure about Krackenor (maybe if I look back I'll find something suggestive). It seems like there's a lot of potential for a simple god/monster investigation to turn gear towards a false positive for mafia. It's possible one of them is also in the mafia, but I doubt -all- of them are. Especially since I know you're in the mafia, Aerdureth.

Also consider, it seems like my powers won't be as amazing as they are for forever. I don't know if stalling is a good idea. Additionally, there is no way I could ensure Krackenor would end up voting on a mafia today without revealing myself. I mean, I could have tried to angle at you otherwise, but with all that I can't reveal, I'd just look suspicious without revealing what I do know (and can).

I just have to accept that my role is designed a certain way on purpose, so sticking out my neck is a necessity.

And also accept that @Kiradawea is an evil genius. Seriously, I feel like 150% better after finally having something useful to come out with, even if it gets me killed.

  • I'm not sure if we posted a lot while you wrote your post, but the current votes for Aerdureth are you, Krackenor, Ellowyn and Silvanus. Silvanus also day-blocked him. I unvoted to prevent a ninja-lynch after Krackenor voted.

Oh, derp. I spent too long sitting on my butt and reading back over the rest of the thread before responding and not checking for new replies. Sorry.

@Ellowyn The message I send is processed by Kiradawea. I tell her what to send to people so she can overview. I don't send anything directly to anyone, and it is an explicitly stated power. So unless you have a specific notation in your rolesheet, no messages to people.

  • @Aerdureth So... any defense or anything?
    image
  • Oops, go to work, come back and stuff happens!

I did receive another letter last night, it told me the name of a God so I'd rather not say unless pressed because I don't need to out one of the Gods without their say so or in their defence.

As clarification, I'm not receiving a private message from another player, these come from Kira with text saying an angel delivered them to me.

Avurekhos says, "Dylara's a PvP menace in my eyes, totes rekting face."

The eye of Dylara materialises in your hands and flings itself around your neck, tightening incomprehensibly until it is irremovable.
Perfectly clean, this eyeball has been wrenched from the socket of Dylara. It has been animated by some unusual force, constantly looking around itself as if in shock or fear. It is bathed in a light covering of white flames that roll endlessly over its surface. A single chain of empyreal metal pierces either side of the eye, allowing it to be worn around the neck.

  • Given Shaddus' stolen feathers I don't think we can rule out an impostor angel, but that's something we can suss out later. Right now I really want to hear more from Aerudeth and Yavina.
  • Okay, well then I shall make a claim.

I am Lady Guinevere, not a god but a being with power. My adversary Morgan le Fay placed a curse upon me so that whenever somebody tries to determine my role, I appear as her, thus making me look like a monster (she's probably still angry that Lancelot chose me instead of her, ha!). Since I am a woman sworn to God and living in a convent after my husband died, I cannot talk about my power much. But what I can reveal is that I am a seer and can truthfully tell you that Krackenor is indeed the one that he pretends to be therefore making him harmless to us.
  • "Okay, I'm back. What have you got for me?"

"Well, our rating numbers are through the roof, the marketting department is having a hard time with brand awareness since everyone seems to forget our products as soon as they use them, and everyone is waiting for Yavina to say something."

"So there's been a lot of activity. Good. Let me see the voting... oh. It seems that Aerdureth has become the victim of one of Silvanus's transformations, trapping her body in the form of a statue. For the rest of the day, Aerdureth will be unable to vote and act."

"You think we should do a vote-count as well? Especially now that a vote is gone."

"It shouldn't have changed the amount of votes for a lynch, but sure. Let me see..."

    Votecount:
Aerdureth: Vivet, Silvanus, Ellowyn, Krackenor (4)

With 10 votes available, it's 6 to lynch!

"Lastly. @Ellowyn no you can not PM with other players outside this thread about the game, unless your role explicitly allows you to do something like that. For example by being part of a mason group, or scum teams. You're of course free to ask us any question you might like in private."
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
Hmm. Why didn't you just explain your circumstances in your first post for the day, Aerdureth?

Also, as I've been thinking, I've decided I probably need to risk it tonight and investigate over hide. Without knowing what will happen with my powers from the fifth day onwards, there's no assurance I can continue to be useful beyond that point. I've been lucky enough in many ways, with not getting roleblocked or the like. Because I'm so out in the open now, and so difficult to defend otherwise, this would allow other people to target me instead of avoiding all night actions. So sure, I might die, but angelface might get a shot at looking at me, or if there's a yet-unrevealed watcher, they might catch the perp. Sooooo...

I have some ideas on who to investigate, but I think it would be interesting to hear from everybody! How about it? Everyone says who they think I should investigate and explains why. If nothing else, this will provide for some useful, pertinent discussion material to review in the days to come for whoever makes it that far.

  • *Eeps at the pressure.* Sorry! A lot happened during the weekend and I was occupied/otherwise unavailable! I will start off with the fact that I am Idunn, goddess of youth! Not some creepy, savage woman! I'd be offended if it wasn't within reason, given my... behavior. Given the situation with doggy, I will note that so far no fits into the role of being Empusa, as Kracken was role-blocked the day ssaliss was attacked but saved, and if Vivet isn't lying, and Aerdureth is in fact mafia, and given who I am and how we somehow have two angels...

I have to say, lets find out if there is even a Empusa. Othero needs to vote last, and then give us the information he receives in the morning, because I think he is lying, and don't believe there even is an Empusa.

If he cannot give, then that would mean someone else is lying. And with this, we can also determine if Kracken is in fact telling the truth. I don't mean to put anyone out on the plank, because it's not fun to be killed! But monsters are bad... And peace isn't part of the "game".
  • That was my plan, yeah. That info should help us out.

I'm not buying Aerdureth's claim. It seems too convenient that you'll show up as a monster, especially with how many false investigations we already have.

I also got this message last night. I was going to save it but it seems like a very good suggestion on who needs to be investigated.

    • "I ..n't ..lie.. .ou ..d t..., ..at .as s..h a ..ste ..r us. ..t no ...ter. W...l f..ge on ah... to our g..l. ...ina has eno..h p...sure on h.. rig.. ..w, so w.y don.. we .. aft... ..lo..n or ...et? Any..e ..t a.. b....r ....s?"
  • Ok, so I'm not the only one who got one of those overhead messages.

Here's my best effort at filling in the blanks on Othero's message:

"I can't believe you did that, that was such a waste for us. But no matter. We'll forge on ahead to our goal. Yavina has enough pressure on her right now, why why don't we go after Ellowyn or Vivet? Anyone got any better ideas?"

Yavina could be Celina here, but that seems unlikely given context (i.e. Celina isn't under any pressure at all). The other names I think are unambiguous.

  • Interesting that, though. "I can't believe you did that, that was such a waste for us". Is there any particular action that happened yesterday that might have prompted that? I suppose it could have been from the previous night's actions but I feel like the monsters would have been in agreement about whatever they did, so that seems unlikely?

  • Hm. Celina's execution is all I can really think of, and she executed Falmiis to either stop Othero from getting info or to build up credibility in case the spotlight fell on her. I'm wondering if maybe I miscomprehended the message I received a few days ago? It mentioned Marcella-now-Celina, in what I thought was a context that made her out to be non-mafia, but I never was able to perfectly fill in the blanks so maybe I've been misreading it. Or maybe I'm overthinking this and Celina is perfectly innocchahahaha I can't manage to actually type that out, but basically meaning non-mafia.

    The plot thickens.

Erm. So a weird garbled message has showed up twice, but there's no third? Does that mean there's another one floating around somewhere? We've had three nights.

Nobody fed me anything weird last night and I've seen no indication I was targetted.

  • "..l ..ree for now, taki.. out ...... ...ld be best. W.. ca.. neglect Marc... .. .o. long, th...., and I'm de.....init.. go...g to .... for S....... as the ..xt tar....."

As best as I can tell, the full message is such: "All agree for now, taking out ???* would be best. We can't** neglect Marcella for*** too long, though, and I'm definitely going to push for Synkarin as the next target."

    * No way to know which name this is, as the number of periods don't match the lengths of either character who was offed on night 1.
** Neither of these words ("we can't") match the number of periods in the message, but I can't come up with any words that fit perfectly, and as with the previous point, there's obviously not a 1:1 correlation between periods and characters. Alternatively, there could have been typos here that were preserved, but either way I think the meaning is pretty clear (and the specific words don't matter here).
*** Again, not a 1:1 matchup, but there's no other name that could fit there based on the letters provided.

The last message quoted for posterity.
  • Yeah, I definitely don't buy into Aerdureth's claim either. It seems weird that she wouldn't just come out and say that in his first post, given her situation; rather, it seems to me that she took that day to come up with the role and a reason as to why she'd be investigated as Morgan le Fay. First, in the Arthurian legend, Guinevere don't seem to have any powers to speak of; while the name can apparently be translated as "The White Enchantress" or "The White Fay/Ghost", she herself is merely mortal. Second, that she can't speak of her powers seem to me to be a slight alteration of Vivet's own role, in where she can't claim her name or alignment or win conditions (which in itself is weird, but that's for another time).

I'll hold off on voting for now to avoid ending the day too soon, but yeah, a major FOS on Aerdureth.

Hopefully if there are some investigator roles, they can look at either myself or Vivet tonight so that if we are killed, we can at least find out who the mafia are.
  • I did not explain my role in my first post because I was slightly shocked. Waking up (I am in another time zone than most of you) to almost half of the population wanting to lynch you is something that would probably take aback most of you. Furthermore, this is my first time playing mafia on a forum so I am still more used to explaining reasons directly instead of making claims.

Concerning Ssaliss post: my role follows a setup that seems typical for this game. I have some powers (Also, did you just call the former Queen powerless, peasant?) but can only name one because of the vow of silence that I had to take when joining the convent (there are more interpretations of the Arthurian legend than one). And like many others I have an adversary, which in my case is Morgan le Fay. When she dies, the curse is lifted and I can finally appear as my real self.

I just want to remind everyone that this is still something I'm looking to hear about. At the very least, I'd still prefer to hear something from @Tekora before we move on too.

Currently, it's probably going to be Silvanus. Silvanus has the best probability to survive the night and be confirmed without having the anti-monster thing fed to him, and in a way I owe it to Tekora still, but at the same time I feel like the results are basically going to be what we already know.

  • There are two different mafia groups.

Falmiis claims the garbled messages aren't coming from HIS mafia group. Take with a grain of salt.

Combined with today's deciphered message, that would mean Celina and Falmiis are not in the same group.

Also, Lavinya was a Roleblocker. Blocked Ieptix, then Krackenor, then Ssaliss.

    You're welcome.
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
That sounds quite plausible. It's also interesting that Lavinya got janitor'd out, but Falmiis did not, no? Or maybe that's something that can't happen on a lynch kill? Hmm.
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
It would also explain why there is this strange edible thing Ssaliss was fed that seems to protect from a certain variety of kill (is it specific and not just any kill?), when Shaddus turned up dead and was distinctly the town protector. The missing feathers, multiple angels sending out messages... damn, maybe revealing today was a mistake after all.
  • CyndarinCyndarin used Flamethrower! It was super effective.
Wait what, how do we know here are two mafia groups? I'm not understanding Tekora's comment.
    image
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
There's too much seemingly pro-town stuff flying around, between these distorted messages and angels and everything else. I also have no idea how many allies Morgan/Aurdureth has, or who they might be. That is information I don't have, and I'm guessing there was an express reason for that.
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
Almost time for work, but I'll think about this more and will hopefully have some theory to construct for tonight.
