She pushes a smile onto her lips, a shaky thing which threatens to flee before Gurashi's emotion.
Quietly, but firmly, as firmly as the request asked earlier of her, you say to Gurashi, "You are beloved, even if it doesn't feel that way right now."
Gurashi's head thunks softly against his knees again. A soft, cicada cry emanates from him, the sound suddenly though quite beautifully echoed back from hundreds of cicadas unseen in the trees of the manse.
The hand that Gurashi was previously plucking grass with goes limp, and eventually his cry fades, though the cicadas in the trees above continue to cry out to each other in wailing song.
You have emoted: Lief's smile flees from her, and she blinks rapidly, tears sliding down her cheeks. She lifts one white sleeve from her yellow macaroon to wipe at her freckled cheeks, swiping at them again and again.
You think to yourself: Gurashi...
