Marcella first saw Leolamins as the Queen's Own Torturer when she stepped out of the Portal of Fate. At first, he was one of the mystical super-demigods, masters of the entire universe, who were  what little circle 1 novices could only dream they could be.

Of course, as she gained experience, the city seemed to, well, become more mortal, she could understand people more instead of looking at them all as mythic figures who she could never match.

Now that she's a bit full of herself to the brim with lore[maybe ignoring all the bits that don't support her ideas/points, just like a good propagandist], she just can't understand how anyone in the ur'Guard could follow Morgfyre and still think that they were carrying out Urlach's legacy, which is everything to Marcella. She's never been exposed to Morgfyre's priesthood beyond a mild disdain for the concept of drastic change like Morgfyre's, since the n'Lochli are mainly Raezonite, and she's somewhat secretly afraid that the whole 'voices' shtick of Morgfyre's might be a sign that Morg isn't strong enough to contain all of that power, her deepest fear is that she'll eventually be 'corrupted' by the Taint and let the Taint master Marcella instead of the other way around.

Marcella mainly believes in Stasis because Commandant Korath in the Catacombs venerates the 'Stasis of Urlach's Undeath.' Why change something that's perfect? Lord Urlach's form, his Gift as given, is the best possible undeath and there's no point in mucking about with it because Urlach knew what he was doing.

That extends to Leolamins. Even though he's been made a Vernal Ascendant, Marcella sometimes can't help but think that he isn't 'really' an ur'Guard. Not that she'd *ever* imply such. She values the stasis of the society too much, since everything's settled down since Revan left and people seem to be focusing on actually doing city projects and working on combat/flares/etc.

Mariel had a nice little interaction with her when I was playing "eeny-meeny-miney-moe" deciding which Guild to defect to. She was impressed with the wisdom of the knight, and Marcella reminds Mariel a lot of herself...just not quite as surly.

Mariel needs to come back to Celest. She knows she doesn't like it in Gaudi, it makes her skin dry.

Revan probably doesn't remember, but he was Shaddus' role model in the Ninjakari as a novice. He gave Shaddus most of his advancement exams, and Shaddus considered him almost like a father for the longest time. He was the quintessential Magnagoran, as many people have said; manipulative, regal when he needed to be, ruthless when he had to be, and unafraid of tossing aside friend and family to achieve his goals.

After a while, Shaddus saw Revan as... Imbalanced, perhaps. As Sthai would have said, Revan was as subtle as "a bag of rats". He became heavy-handed and brash, openly loud and seeking attention and power, as if Revan felt it was owed to him. This was heavily at odds with Shaddus' Fainite beliefs that even the mighty can be thrown down and stepped upon.

Shaddus has ended up throwing Revan out of two guilds throughout the whole time he's known him, but secretly hopes Revan will learn some humility.... Or at least, publicly act like he has.... And find his way back into the city.

    Marcella:

Until recently Marcella was one of the ice-cool Ur'Guard in burnished armour and flapping capes and all that jazz, out winning the day and so on - the kind of person to leave Reyl stricken with shyness, torn between smiling and curtsying and saluting and falling over while attempting some combination of the three. Lately they've interacted more, and the schoolgirl admiration has softened to respect and a growing sense of camaraderie (as Reyl becomes more involved in the Legion)

Honestly, I still haven't fully worked out the RP behind why Mariel left the Paladins. I as a player wanted to move to an org where things happened and people interacted. The Paladins seemed really empty and quiet to me, without a whole lot in the way of roleplaying or even activity. At least for now I can roleplay Mariel sorely missing her old home, and she's less than impressed with both the ideals (One Law) and objects of worship (Fire/Vortex planes) in Gaudiguch. Therefore she still holds on to her Celestian ideals even if she's not there anymore.

    I think I just perception'd myself...
  • Iytha remembers Mariel mostly as that 'That one Paladin with the tattoos and the dog." and briefly wondered why she left before concluding that it ultimately wasn't her business. I don't think they ever actually talked to each other at any point.
  • Iytha remains 'the one who should be Hallifaxian, but isn't [for reasons best left buried somewhere as a reminder how not to do something]' in Mael's mind, in no small terms one of the most interesting and intelligent people he's met. He always wants to strike up a conversation with her again in the Aetherplex or wandering through Celest on business but always seems to miss his chance and give up [a little guilty for said buried reasons]. He is at least happy she seems to have found her niche in Celest, if it is lamentably writing hymns and sermons instead of scholarly works [and tabloids...].

  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
Maellio has a lot of patience and energy to talk at length on politics and bureaucratic matters, delving into all the smallest minutiae with a persistence that would be bound to drive most others mad. Unfortunately, it is for this same reason that he is liable to have difficulty with working on projects alone - though not known with certainty, it is assumed that he can lose a lot of time simply talking to himself when he could just as well be writing.

He has a distinct sweet tooth otherwise, and a dry sense of humour that is often misinterpreted, and is probably his greatest source of unintentional miscommunications and issues.
  • Vivet rather discomfited Irillia when they first met, in a "What do I have in common with someone like that?" way, due to her combat aptitude and humblingly vast knowledge of Lusternian lore, easily dominating city-sponsored quiz events and taking third place in the Knowledge Seal. Gradually, however (at least to Irillia; I'm sure many other people already recognized this long ago), Vivet distinguished herself as one of the pillars on whom Hallifax quietly but unquestionably depends for its well-being and success. She has proven helpful, thoughtful, patient, always willing to suggest ideas, help out, and try new things (not to mention enchant, participate in city events, or host them), and still as impressively knowledgeable as ever, while remaining humble and unpretentious throughout. For a long time, Irillia thought she would make an excellent Vernal Ascendant for Hallifax and was thus quite gratified when she finally achieved the position recently.

One of Irillia's most amusing memories is of Morbo taking her aside once to privately offer Vivet's hand to her in marriage. Irillia actually considered it somewhat seriously, but decided that she preferred the sound of "Vivet Shevat" (which Morbo made clear wasn't going to happen) to "Irillia Pavok" and also found the prospect of Morbo as a father-in-law a little alarming. Nowadays, it's just one of those funny little what-could-have-beens that makes her chuckle sometimes.

    edited October 2013
Irillia is one of Hallifax's signature artists, first and foremost. She tends towards being more apologetic than some of the others, and even takes to behaving in a deferential manner toward some of her peers - most visibly Zyphora. This is more likely due to her base personality than any real feelings of inadequacy, however, as she has shown greater preference for taking on coordinator/facilitator roles than taking command. It seems she'd rather push and encourage someone else to take the forefront.

Her most unusual quality, however, appears to be an understated (perhaps hidden) fascination for the grotesque and visceral. It slips out more in private, but is distinct and real enough. Her wedding ring is probably the best public example.
  • Allyrianne has a great deal of respect for Vivet, although she wouldn't say that she knows her particularly well. She's particularly in awe of her vast knowledge of history and lore, and finds Vivet a good resource for all sorts of questions ranging from the practical, to the irritatingly bureaucratic, to the purely theoretical. Allyrianne considers Vivet to be the quintessential Pavok: grounded, practical, knowledgeable, and always ready to serve the interests of Collectivism.
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
Allyrianne was likable almost immediately. She was fantastic as a newbie and it was gratifying to see her stick around and get more involved in the city. Always so curious, especially about history and forgotten things, and generally with some interesting insight to make. It's been a long time now, though, so I can't say much for the current character. Hopefully she is comfortable with the position she holds, instead of serving it by obligation - that feels like something that could have been an issue at some point.
  • DaraiusDaraius Shevat The juror's taco spot
Daraius views Vivet as a paragon of the Pavok family, and really appreciates her no-nonsense attitude. So far she's proven to be perfectly reliable in her professionalism, which is comforting to Daraius and translates to (what he feels is) an easy, efficient relationship. She's demonstrated proficiencies for leadership, communication (vis a vis villages and aetherflares), and service, which make for One Good Hallifaxian. She gives Daraius hope for the future of the Hallifaxian Great Houses and he hopes to have her and some Pavoks over for tea sometime.
    I used to make cakes.

Estarra the Eternal says, "Give Shevat the floor please."
  • VivetVivet , of Cows and Crystals
Daraius seems difficult to read, but that might just be due to his racial expression and my lack of familiarity with it. He's otherwise quite amicable in speech, though a lot more reserved than some of his plays might lead one to think (or perhaps writing/playwriting is an easier form of expression for him). He takes suggestions and advice well, and has a wide variety of interests, but feels unfocused. It is difficult to tell if this is a result of competing directions with his interests, or if it's a general underlying apathy rooted in current life conditions.
  • Iytha was there for Vivet's ascension! It was somewhat awkward being the only non-Hally present, but she wanted to show her support. Also, it would have been even more awkward to duck out half way through. While she doesn't really know much about Vivet, Iytha assumes Vivet is a great example of how a Hallifaxer should behave - if she weren't, Hallifax wouldn't have picked her to be their VA.
  • Talan believes Iytha is an agent of Fain, and assumes she is in New Celest on some kind of recon mission, either because that order's plans to take over Gaudiguch fell by the wayside, or because she was becoming too comfortable there as an operative and was reassigned. (Note: In an OOC sense, I'm not even sure that Iytha was ever a member of Fain's order. I think I recall reading on old forums once that she was in Elo's.) Iytha is deliberately obtuse, frustratingly unhelpful, and a pathological liar. She constantly says things that are patently untrue for no apparent reason, which Talan finds absolutely infuriating.

Though some regard Iytha as a noted scholar, Talan sees her as the Basin's most prolific propagandist. While Talan can definitely appreciate good propaganda, she holds it entirely separate from anything with real academic value, and feels that anyone who takes Iytha seriously is a hopeless case for obvious reasons. She truly enjoyed reading The Gossip while it was being published, and felt Iytha had found her niche there. She always wished Iytha would expand it outside of Gaudiguch.

  • Thul still thinks of Talan as Regent, and will probably always think of her as Regent, as anyone with the moxie to take the reins of Glomdoring for any length of time with any amount of success earns permanent respect in his books. Her move to Hallifax isn't that big a surprise in his mind, though he's a little surprised she's so active in the world these days, as he's mentally equated both Gaudiguch and Hallifax to retirement communities.

The respect goes unspoken these days, partially because he's one step shy of inconvenient enemy status with Hallifax in general, but mostly because Thul hardly ever interacts with anyone at all. Still, he hopes he's been suitably polite during the random run-ins in Icewynd.

And he's utterly amazed at how badly she smoked everyone during the latest Harmony round.

    Woo, Talan :)

Talan was, in many respects, the person that Svorai looked to as a role model. Talan was supremely capable at everything she turned her hand to; because of this, it seemed as though she played many roles within the forest. Talan led with authority, and people followed her without question -- at least, this is how it seemed to one not privy to Court affairs. Talan was a deeply private person, and Svorai guessed, very spiritual, and Svorai saw a lot of her own nature in her. She loved her family in a fierce, but distant kind of way, and was the matriarch of not only the Ysav'rai, but it seemed, of Glomdoring itself.

Her no nonsense, firm and unrelenting manner inspired. When Talan explained things, you listened well; Svorai felt that enduring Talan's disappointed gaze was worse than death itself. But it was the fact that she allowed no room for compromise, that she set the bar high and seemingly measured everyone around her by it, that drove Svorai to be all she could be.

Talan officiated both of Svorai's marriages: the first, to Talan's grandson, Skye. With strong women such as Talan and Narynth as grandmother- and mother-in-law, Svorai felt that in joining the Ysav'rai, she assumed more than just a name: but a legacy. Ah, but all that lasted but a brief decade, though Svorai will always look to Talan as a mother she never had.

There was a great sadness, or loneliness that clung to Talan. She seemed alone and unappreciated, even when the whole of the commune praised and adored her. Svorai felt she understood what Talan thought. A symptom that necessitated a great change... maybe Talan found the answer? She doesn't know.

There is a great deal I could write about Svorai's feelings towards Talan: how she believes that Talan leaving Glomdoring was her fault, but how her leaving ended up being a blessing (or a curse?) for Svorai. She no longer looked to Talan to be the measure of her conduct, and found her own strength.

Svorai appreciates that Talan takes the time to be gracious toward her on the battlefield -- as though it were simply a consequence of fate that they met there, and never maliciously intended. She still holds Talan in the highest respect and wishes she could talk to her more freely.

Everiine has had one interaction with Svorai that he knows of. He was surprised that his letter got any response at all, and at least one good thing came of it. That long-distance interaction, plus a separate letter sent to the Moonhart Circle has shown EV that not everyone in the Glomdoring is a mindless zombie these days, and that there is still some honour to be found there if one seeks hard enough.
Everiine is a man, and is very manly. This MAN before you is so manly you might as well just gender bend right now, cause he's the manliest man that you ever did see. • Parua has only really dealt with Everiine indirectly, but from what she has seen and heard about him, she has great respect. She stepped from the portal not long after his call to action, and sees him as one of the driving forces behind reclaiming the "Winter Court" for Serenwilde. She knows that he is a good person from these things, and also through her uncle, who has had nothing but glowing words in describing the old bird.

Llewell likes Parua a lot. She's generally playful, cheerful, and upbeat as well as intelligent. She's obviously not one of those snugglehumping fools he despises, but isn't all cold and disinterested in the people around her. He even tried to approach some of her makeshift family try and steal her away to adopt, but they turned him down. He's hoping to see great things from her in the future, and hopes she doesn't just poof like most of the interesting Moondancers do.

    edited October 2013
Rancoura has never known much about Nayl, aside from the fact that she(?) is one of Shayle's parents. One of the most curious memories Rancoura has of her youth (was it really that long ago?) was a day when Nayl had returned from Magnagora to join Glomdoring, bearing the curse of Undeath. Shayle took it upon herself to chase her mother past the Master Ravenwood, as she tried to Nightkiss Nayl to death in order to cleanse her.

Since then, Nayl didn't do much to capture Rancoura's attention; and the fact that Nayl is now back in Magnagora draws only indifference from Rancoura.

Morkarion has had limited direct contact with Maellio, one time while operating under mutual benefit, one time in a "meet the in-laws" evening of tea and conversation and then one time trying to discuss politics while staying alive and murdering people during an absolve.

In all three Morkarion finds Maellio to be the poster boy to all stereotypes he has about Hallifax, right down to the frustrating core of red-tape bound diplomacy. If there was the opportunity to push politics aside, Morkarion believes he could converse happily with Maellio, while he's certainly loyal to Hallifax and their bureaucratic methods of doing things by-the-book, he's actually a rather smart person, and doesn't leave the Orclach with the bitter taste in his mouth that once again he's having to deal with some zealous idiot.

Also he really does have excellent taste in tea.

  • Nimhuire's primary experience with Morkarion is getting beheaded abruptly while gathering Fae, and therefore adding him to the list of people to keep an eye out for while in Faethorn. She therefore doesn't have a terribly high opinion of him, although is willing to acknowledge that he seems to take the no mercy part seriously. She also strongly suspects that he hasn't the foggiest idea of who she is, and this can't help but rankle, particularly when she is forced to respect his military prowess at a distance.

He, and others, have caused her to spend a good deal more time reflecting on Hart, and the philosophies of running away as opposed to standing one's ground, and given her some motivation for trying to learn how to fight, except that there's so many other things worth spending time on that she hasn't really gotten around to that yet.
  • edited January 2014
Parua looks up to Nimhuire a lot, both  figuratively and literally (lol)

She greatly admires the elfen's critical thinking, and values her input on a great many things. The rituals she has penned make Parua examine her own work and find it wanting, and the extent to which Nimhuire can view things objectively is another trait that she envies greatly. In fact, she would have voted for Nimhuire for High Wisdom, if only she had contested first, not wanting to look foolish for bowing out, or lose Nimhuire's esteem, as she had expressed concern for single-choice elections.

She tries very hard to gain Nimhuire's approval, but desperately doesn't want to be caught actively seeking it, as Parua feels that would undermine her objective, especially now that she has the mantle of the High Wisdom on her shoulders. She also wishes very much that Nimhuire was around more often, as she'd like to get to know her better on a personal level, and desperately needs a cool-headed sounding board for her ideas.

She sees Nimhuire as the quintessential Witch: calm, devoted, intensely spiritual, and more than a bit mysterious, as there seems to be something always simmering just below the surface.

Marcella looks down on Parua a lot, both figuratively and literally (dohoho)

Seeing as how the guildmaster of the Moondancers was both a city and guild enemy, when Marcella decided to get engaged to Lillie, she had high hopes of having a productive chat with Parua in the reasonably neutral confines of the Basin's dashro carriage. While extremely amused that Parua was so desperate to get out that she opened the door while the carriage was moving, less amusing was the fact that every valid (in Marcella's mind anyway) argument or set of facts she attempted to present was disregarded instantly through knee-jerk emotional responses that seemed to have no logic involved.

Since Marcella also believes that only the ignorant could possibly disagree with her, when Parua decided that she definitely did not want a history lesson from a lich it put a damper on any hopes Marcella had of a peaceful resolution to the issues going on within the Moondancers. It's since turned to a sort of mix of pity and disgust, the same sort that Marcella feels for Celest, about pushing away and burning the bridges to sources of power and energy and happiness simply out of some kind of misguided moral direction - such as refusing to play Vengeance in the same city as Marcella, or chasing off a competent guildmate who'd served for 100 years. While their loss is Magnagora's gain, Marcella wish it had went differently because she's afraid of what Parua's reckless and bullheaded actions will end up in in results to her new (prospective) spouse's personality.

Not least of which is sending her poisoned platters in the mail. That tends to make people even sadder than they are.

Marcella feels that Parua is an ignorant cretin whose mind is unfit for even the simplest positions of leadership and, if allowed to continue, is likely to be a danger to the Basin of Life and should somehow be removed lest the Soulless take advantage of her inflexibility and blind hatred for things she doesn't understand.

(also to clarify lest ye drown under negativity, i've seen some logs and you're better at roleplaying than a lot of people)

Everiine used to hold a great deal of respect for Parua. In her, he saw a new, young ritualist, devoted to Mother Moon and willing to actually show that in public. In his opinion, not enough Moondancers do enough to spread Mother Moon's teachings and practices, and he saw Parua as someone who could change that. She was wide-eyed, inquisitive, devoted, and religious, a good witch.

Recent events first called Parua's judgement into question, then her courage, then her wisdom. Ev was left with a sense of disappointment that Parua had become just like every other Moondancer: unremarkable, petty, and able to be manipulated. Still, Ev didn't really hate her. He just wished things had turned out differently. But, she then (through rumours) demonstrated her pettiness and immaturity, and Ev saw the last light in her die away.
